Should we be sticking with the traditional red or welcome a change? Personallynthink it would be a nice touch

First game of the season

Always a psychological boost to get off to a good start to a season, especially now (if the reports are accurate) that we will be able to play our super sexy football on a freshly laid super sexy pitch. Last year we got off on the wrong foot by getting newly-relegated Doncaster Rovers at home, losing 0-3. So who would you like for our first game? Just as important, do you want home or away?

Here is your selection in reasonably alphabetical order:

Bradford
Bristol City
Carlisle United
Colchester United
Coventry City
Crawley
Crewe Alexandra
Gillingham
Leyton Orient
M K Dons
Notts County
Oldham Athletic
Peterborough United
Port Vale
Preston North End
Rotherham United
Sheffield United
Shrewsbury Town
Stevenage
Swindon Town
Tranmere Rovers
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Yeovil Town

I think I would like an away fixture that perhaps we wouldn't expect to be easy, and therefore it wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't win, so I would be happy with.......

Preston North End (a)

Pitch to be Dug Up

Heard at the match today that the pitch is being dug up and new one to be relayed starting on Monday (20th May). Those who can remember our own battles to keep our own club in our town may have some sympathy with the genuine fans there and it would be good if we could show a little solidarity with those fans by signing their petition (link below) to block the attempt to move them out of Coventry.

Even if you don't have any such sympathy and want to take a more cynical stance you might want to consider whether the current owners should be allowed to not pay the rent for a year and then up and move the club whilst ditching that rent debt by leaving it in a company that they then put in admit whilst shifting the assets and team in another company. If so you might want to think they shouldn't get away with it and should be prevented from doing so and therefore sign the petition.

I'm sure the cov fans would not mind whatever your motivation.

Just when you thought we were getting better..

Saw this on the lovely Cheesebag's FB...

Embarrassing. Whoever is responsible for that should be sacked or resign. Seriously - what on earth are they playing at ?

FFP

Interesting figures on turnover and wages taken from the dingles forum when discussing FFP. Not sure the source or accuracy, but believable all the same, apart from Brentford's turnover.

I'd guess when the word abbreviated has been used, they clubs have refused to provide figures, because they are way over the permitted 65%?

As there are many clubs over this figure, will/havethey be punished?

Brentford - t/o £2.8 w £5.6 - 200%
Yeovil - Abbreviated
Sheffield United - t/o £9.7 w £12 - 123%
Swindon - Abbreviated
Leyton - t/o £3.2 w £2.6m - 81%
MK - t/o £5.7 w £4.1 - 72%
Walsall - t/0 £5 w £2.4 - 48%
Crawley - Abbreviated
Tranmere - t/o £3.3 w £2.2 - 66%
Notts - Abbreviated
Crewe - t/o £2.8 w £2.3 - 82%
Preston - t/0 £6.1 w £8 - 133%
Coventry - t/o £10.2 w £10.3 - 101%
Shrewsbury - t/o £3.8 w £2.7 - 71%
Carlisle - t/o £4.3 w £3.1 - 72%

Mine has to be Bristol City in '88, crazy beyond words.Always remember Bolton always looking for it also back in the day. I remember one guy, came round to the street-end gates just before full time giving it the Barry Mcguigan, offering a few Walsall lads out.To be fair the lads who were offered out bottled it. Low and behold the very next year the same guy same thing, same said. Bless him, the poor chap got battered. Besides Wigan, what's your worst?
