Back to league action , a look at the U's last 6 league games.
Bristol Rovers - home - lost 0-1
Cheltenham - away - lost 3-4
Stockport - away - won 2-1
Millwall - home - lost 1-2
Carlisle - home - won 5-0
Soouthend - away - drew 3-3
Colchester are finding it tough going back in league 1 after a short spell in the championship
the U's are 18th on 15 points from 14 games played.
Predicion who knows a fixture where we should be looking for maximum points , but after recent events many of us would be delighted with a point.
2-2

Walsall to lose 3-1.
Cully to dance naked as a half-time entertainment experiment. Crowds to halve for next home game. Nobody sure why.

1-0 to the Saddlers.
SaigonSaddler to loose all his teeth in a rather saucy game of Battleships.

If Mullen's still in charge, we'll lose.
Still, it makes winning money from William Hill that bit easier.

We'll lose if Mullen remains in charge [which he will]. One things for certain, he won't be coming over to stand with the away fans again. Oh those halycon days.

I was going to try and get to this one as would have been a new ground for me. Players can't be bothered to make an effort and now neither can I
4-0 thrashing

After Weston, Reich and Boertein start for the first time in months. They all decide to score as many own goals as they can so Muddle gets the chop.
Colchester 36-0 Walsall
Weston (x18)
Boertein (x10)
Reich (x8)

Capitulation from the Saddlers as Colchester get their second home league victory in their new stadium. At least we won’t make that bit of history being the first thank God.
I cannot see where the next point is coming from at the moment with Mullen in charge. I would personally go for a 4 5 1 formation on Saturday with Jabo out suspended I would also bring back Brotein (sp) and Weston for the game and have Bradley, Mattis and Hughes in the centre of the field with Nichols and Zaboooooooo on the wings with Ricketts as the loan striker. Then maybe we would get to see some much needed protection for the defence and get the best out of some of our player.
I will be there as well mainly because it’s a new ground for me no I think it’s the only reason I am going to watch us on Saturday.

Didn't know we only had Ricketts on loan. After Saturdays goal sign him up I say.

the team I would try is this.
Ince
Weston Roberts Gezza Boertien
Taundry
Nicholls Hughes Mattis Reich
Ricketts
One thing Taudry has levelled at him is that he runs round a lot and throwing himself about well a sweeper role would be perfect especially after the centre backs performance on Saturday. We are leaking goals and maybe we need a few boring 0-0 1-1 draws to stop the rot then build on it. Team was just a thought as it seems our manager is running out of them.

I'm fancying us to win 2-1 to be honest. Colchester are struggling adapting to their new home and are in poor form, their last two results although half decent were against an atrocious Carlisle side and a local derby against Southend that their players simply had to perform in or risk the wrath of their fans.

Got to disagree, Stu.
Any manager, in this division, would readily accept those last four results.
Carlisle may well fit the atrocious tag, but our recent performances make us no better.

So if we look at the actual 4 results in all comps though, you swap a 2-1 win at Stockport with a 1-0 defeat at home to Orient. Colchester's home record this season, in all competitions, stands at W1 D2 L5 F8 A10.
If you can't go to a team with a home record like that and fancy your chances, espeically when our away form is better than our home form, then you'll never fancy your chances.
I still say 2-1 us.

We'll do our normal and play comparitively well in the first half (and possibly go in with a goal lead). Then the Colchester manager will do something strange and weird and change tactics/positions etc..This will leave Statue Muddle totally befuddled and with 45 minutes to stand arms folded and finger on lips trying to look like he's thinking new tactical strategy's. Cue a second half collapse and an inevitable defeat.

No, definitely not
hoping for that. If he was sacked then that'd be a silver lining, but I can't imagine ever wanting us to lose.
I actually think that we have a good chance on Saturday. We've been strong away from home and tend to start games well before fading out. Confidence at Colchester is fragile and I think that this is one of those games where if we do get into the lead then they won't have the self-belief to make a come back whatever the shortcomings of our tactics.

If we play to our full ability we wre more than capable of winning , the big question is wiill the players do that., do they want him out as much as some of us.
For the record i never want my team to lose , but i do want Mullen out we'll lose more games then we'll win under him.

I haven't got that far yet.
I admit (and I did at the time) that under the latter weeks of the Merson era I did wish for defeats in certain games if I thought that to lsoe would see the end of his reign. I know that upsets certain people but to my mind it's a case of 'for the greater good'.
I still hope (but doubt) that Mullen will suddenly find the silver bullett that turns us into a promotion chasing team and all this can be forgotten. Many more performances like we've recently seen though and perhaps those old feelings will regrettably re-surface.
