Boli announces retirement
Former Walsall striker Roger Boli has announced his retirement from football due to a series of injuries.
Boli played for the Saddlers when Jan was in charge, and scored a hatful of goals, including a memorable one at Old Trafford.
But the goals dried up after Christmas and he was sold to Dundee United in May 1998 for £150,000, where he struggled. So, having optimistically said when he left Bescot he was looking “for a higher class of football” he somewhat bizarrely joined Bournemouth early last season where he scored one goal before succumbing to more injuries.
Still, we wish Rog well – perhaps he will now follow his mate Cantona into the film business, or star in a Eurostar advert.
