Walsall 3 Brentford 2
Another superb display by Portuguese star Jorge Leitao inspired the Saddlers to a 3-2 win over Brentford last night to leave Sir Ray’s men needing one more win to virtually ensure play-off participation.
Don Goodman had a hand in all three goals, although he didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet himself. Walsall raced into a two goal lead following first half efforts from Leitao, and a Tom Bennett screamer. Brentford battled back to equalise 10 minutes into the second half, only for Jorge to seal it with a piercing drive into the far corner.
After the match Sir Ray paid tribute to the contribution of Fitzroy Simpson - and spoke of getting the players ready for the play-off challenge.
