Walsall 2 Bradford 2

Walsall’s final game of the season ended in a 2-2 draw with Bradford, giving the Saddlers their best finishing position in the league in many years. Two goals from Steve Corica and a host of further missed chances were ultimately and undeservedly punished by Bradford in the second half, but the 8,000+ at Bescot celebrated with a party and a lot of optimism for the times ahead.
The focus of activity now turns to the offices within Bescot and the telephone over the close season, as the club seek to retain the services of Lee and his assistant Dave Merrington. Many players become out of contract, and the future of the loan signings like Steve Corica, who has been the star player in recent games, hangs in the balance. So let’s wish the administrators behind the scenes well, and trust that this summer’s close season is rather more successful than the last, when a host of unknown talent arrived, few of which ever made it in anger on to the pitch.
