Four Straight Defeats
Goals tonight at the Bescot, unfortunately Walsall on the wrong end of four of them as the goal drought ended in a spectacular but defensively disastrous style. Darren Byfield sealed a successful return to the club he left in March with two first-half goals. Aussie striker David Zdrilic got his first goals for us, and we came back from 3-1 down to 3-3, but ultimately it wasn’t enough, as Zigor conceded a penalty on 77 minutes and Alan Lee powerfully slotted home.
What now for the team and boss Colin Lee? Four straight defeats, some of which against the division’s weaker sides. He’s come in for criticism for his tactics on this site’s message board. Only consolation is with both Brighton and Grimsby losing tonight, Walsall look to be in for a season of avoiding that third relegation place.
