Matty Fryatt and Ian Roper are both expected to be out of action for around a month after picking up knee ligament injuries at Bradford last Saturday.
“Matty is responding well to his treatment. He may surprise us and return to action over the Christmas period, but I think that it is unlikely at this stage.” said physio Jon Whitney.
“‘Ropes’ is struggling more so and he is certain to be out for a month. The good news is that the neck problem that kept Neil Emblen out of the last game has cleared up and he will be fully fit for Saturday’s game against Blackpool.”
Meanwhile, Kris Taylor’s loan move to Burton could be back on after he recovered from a knock whilst Joe Murphy will not be recalled by West Brom despite Russell Hoult’s current injury. Mark Paston and Richard McKinney remain sidelined for the Saddlers with injury while young keeper Dean Coleman is set to join Redditch United.
“It’s great news,” beamed Merson. “Joe is an important player for us; every team needs a solid and reliable last line of defence.”
