There seems to be an increase in the number of rumours that Matty Fryatt is about to leave the club, with West Ham and Sunderland being the most mentioned clubs. Although these kinds of rumours do crop up on a regular basis on the message boards, there are a couple of things which might give an indication that something is afoot at Bescot.
Firstly, Fryatt, following his non appearance at Brentford, does not seem to be Paul Merson’s flavour of the month. Merson went so far as to publically criticise the young striker, despite the fact he did not mention the other players who rang in sick, in the press article.
Secondly, he has been quoted on Team Talk today that he does not see enigmatic Brazilian winger Herivelto as a midfield player, but as a striker. Herivelto, Nhelko, Robinson, Leitao, Fryatt??? Five strikers does seem a little over the top when even Manchester United manage with four. It may not be Fryatt, but I would expect some movement shortly.
