The Glasgow Evening Times is reporting that Walsall have reached a pre contract agreement to sign Dunfermline Athletic’s Scottish born midfielder Gary Mason.
It now remains to be seen if he will sign, or take up an extension offer from Dunfermline.

The ex Manchester City trainee has made 144 League and Cup appearances for the Pars since leaving Maine Road on a free and also has league experience on loan at Hartlepool.

The Under 21 International is described on the Dunfermline official site as:

“A hard tackling ball winner from Edinburgh” and “a regular first team player and his defensive and midfield skills make him an important player for the club. Very capable of notching goals from the edge of the box”.

According to his agent’s web site, www.proplayermanagement.com, South African forward Toni Nhleko is still intending to join Walsall in June this year. He had put off joining the Saddlers after reaching an agreement on a contract at the end of January, due to an illness in the family (his mother).

He has, however, now joined his former club Jomo Cosmos on a short-term contract until the end of June and made his second debut for them on February 1st, scoring the first goal for the team in a 2-0 win.
