Ian Roper has been named in the Football League Team of the week, following Walsall’s excellent defensive performance at Southend last Saturday.

The clean sheet achieved means that the stalwart efforts of the back four have been recognised, although Andy Oakes may well feel he should have made it as well, given his superb performance!

Roper finds himself in good company, as he is joined in the honour by former Saddler Julian Bennett, who must have had an impressive time to make the team as a defender when his side won 7 -1!
