Threat To Bournemouth Game Real

Walsall were featured on Sky Sports News today, but for the wrong reasons.

Roy Whalley was being interviewed on the possible postponement of Saturday’s game. With the weather forecast saying that temperatures may drop as low as -6 Centigrade and snow on the way, the club are doing everything they can to make sure that this weekend’s fixture goes ahead.

The pitch is, at the moment, covered in plastic sheeting and the club are bringing in braziers to try and mitigate against the effects of the severe frosts.

Roy Whalley did say that, should the game have to be postponed, the costs to the club in cancellation fees and gate losses, replacing a Saturday fixture with a mid week one, could amount to as much as £20,000, a not inconsiderable sum to a club at our level.
