We’re In The Money
The Official Site is about to announce the new manager will be former Newcastle United Jets (the Australian version) coach, Richard Money.
The former Liverpool and Fulham player born on 13th October 1955 in Lowestoft, and is a former player of both Liverpool F.C. and Fulham F.C. during the 70’s and 80’s. Money has represented both the England B and U/21 teams.
Defender Richard Money followed in the footsteps of Ray Clemence and Kevin Keegan in being a former Scunthorpe player to move to Liverpool, but unfortunately he failed to make anyway near the same impact in a Red jersey as his illustrious predecessors.
Signed in May 1980 from Fulham for £50,000, perhaps his best memory of playing for Liverpool was when he played in the European Cup semi-final against Bayern Munich in Germany. Although the game finished in a draw, Liverpool went through on away goals to face Real Madrid in the final.
After a loan spell at Derby County, Money was sold to Luton Town in April 1982 for £100,000. A spell with Portsmouth followed before injury forced him to prematurely curtail his playing career and he has since managed Scunthorpe and worked as a coach at Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Coventry City.
