Vio Ganea’s agent had already confirmed some of the details quoted in yesterday’s story about Walsall’s audacious bud to sign the Romanian International striker.

The “in the know” postings on the message board have suggested that Ganea wants to stay in the Wolverhampton area, because his family are so settled here.

When rumours first started about Wolves not being prepared to extend his contract, last December, his agent was asked about Cardiff City’s supposed interest. He said:-

“Vio is out of contract at the end of the season but we’ve been told Wolves are not prepared to sit down and talk about a new deal until then. But Vio wants to be a Wolves player and wants to get his future sorted out. We want to show that this is what we want to do.

“His family love Wolverhampton and Vio wants to be part of Wolves. We can’t wait until May to find out whether Vio is going to get a contract for next season.

“There is lots of interest in him and Cardiff, Leeds and Southampton have all asked to be kept informed about what’s going on.”

Now he has been released by the Dingles, a move to Walsall might be far more attractive than first impressions might give.
