Walsall have made possibly their most significant signing of the Summer. Scott Dann has signed the contract offered – and it’s for three years.

The highly promising Liverpool born centre back was one of the big successes of the Saddlers’s season and fans had been hoping that he would be signing his new contract. What has come as something of a surprise is that the club has gone the whole hog and offered him three years, a contract he has duly signed.

Richard Money has gone so far as to say that he thinks this will be one of the club’s most significant signings this summer.

This also shows that the club is quite prepared, contrary to the views of some people, to offer players lengthy contracts, but only when it is right for the club to do so. Dann has shown in the last season that he has the potential to be worth the risk.
