The club have confirmed what readers of the UTS message board have known for months - that Martin Butler was the subject of an offer from Peterborough United during the close season.

Sources have suggested that Butler has wanted away for some time, tempted by the ridiculously high salaries and contract lengths being offered by Posh. In a statement on the club web site, the summer bid has been confirmed.

They go on to say that Butler has been in negotiations about his contractural position, but these talks have broken down and the player has been transfer listed with immediate effect.
