Me too mate - exactly the same. My lad was on crutches at the time and it was a nightmare for logistics but that was soon forgotten at the final whistle

I also got very emotional when we beat Preston to get to the JPT final - as soon as the whistle went I quickly became absolutely overwhelmed by the thought of our first ever trip to Wembley…

I’ve seen you mention the Miners Arms a few times over the years. You would have without doubt seen us at some time, it was like first base during the late 80s for us. You’d definitely have seen my Dad’s face in there if not spoke to him at some point.

Dad wouldn’t go in Georgies for reasons I can’t remember. Usually on matchday he would end up in Rushall Labour Club but I think he was going out around Pelsall that particular night.

Those £2 Walsall promoted shirts, they were selling them on the Saturday, and I asked my Dad if I could have one. Everything seems brilliant when you are that age. He said “We ain’t promoted yet” wise man indeed.

That was one of the great nights for me. You wouldn’t think it could match up with some of the promotion games. It was a different feeling but still had that feeling of euphoria. The Town was buzzing that night before and after. Lots of emotion after the game, handshakes and hugging, or just a nod of acknowledgement to faces you know but didn’t really know them to speak to.

More nights like that, please.

I see that the M6 is now closed Northbound between J10 and 10A so gonna be very busy on the roads in and around Walsall folks…

Can’t imagine what I’ll be like if we win I was in tears after we beat Chesterfield

Is this an indication that Comley is starting?

I thought the same but I’ll remain hopeful for now :joy:

Really looking forward to today.

My big concern is that my excitement will immediately dissipate at 2pm when I see the team sheet. Adomah up top and a Comley/Stirk pairing will be a worry.

Daniels or Gordon featuring ahead of say Wheatley or Chang on the bench is also a worrying possibility.

Top of the league - 10,000 in the groun. Let’s hope we can rise to what will be a great occasion.

Come on lads.

Not Matt Sadler’s favourite Maroon 5

But as Blur once said,

There’s no other way, all that you can do is watch them play.

Up The Saddlers.

Few years ago we were only getting the base of 3000 home fans who were mainly season ticket holders, plus whatever the away team brought along.

Over 10,000 for a league game is quite simply unbelievable.

Sneaking suspicion he will lean heavily on experience today given the attendance and importance. Hope it works if the case.

It really is. It has surprised me.

It is an indication of what is possible long term. This is only the beginning, hopefully.

It’s brilliant which is why the people moaning about our support puzzle me our gates are better than they’ve ever been at this level at least.

So 300 tickets remaining, but I assume they’ve got the away end segregated just for Wimbledon fans.

We know the away end holds 1900 or thereabouts, and Wimbledon are bringing 1100.

I’m guessing the two end blocks in the banks and fellows stand (apologies, don’t know their current names) will be blocked off? So 300 a piece.

So by my reckoning, 900 empty seats in the home ends and 800 in the away end, off a grand total of 11,300?

My final attendance prediction: 9421

COME ON YOU REDS!!!

I actually thought I’d seen DJ on there before, which confirmed it is no guarantee of selection!
