Barrow (H) 14th December, 3pm

Was looking forward to this one as it is my Birthday, no better way to spend it than watching the Saddlers with my boys.

Unfortunately, I am so ill at the moment, and so is my oldest lad, I doubt we are going to make it. Still time but it isn’t looking good.

I’m going 3-0, blow them away with no problems at all.

Absolutely nailed on to be switched round.

Agreed.

Depends on who wins the toss.

We will lose the toss, and go 2-0 down after 10 minutes. Then it will be a repeat of Tuesday until the last 20 minutes when a couple of the subs get 5 goals between them. It might rain.

Oh of course. Thanks.

We’ll be 5 points clear with a game in hand come 6pm Saturday.

I just can’t see Fail beating Bromley and Wimbledon will do Donny over :+1:

As we now have to have an away corner rather than away end, the switch is a no brainer for away teams.

To be honest I thought it was us instigating it because of the setting sun. If I’m honest I’d wondered for sometime why we didn’t do that anyway, not so much in Winter, but Spring and Autumn where it can be really tricky for the goal keeper our end.

2-0 win. We’ve struggled against them for ages but if there’s any time we can change it it’s now.

Not going to this one thanks to a poorly planned work’s Christmas party not considering Walsall’s home fixtures, whenever I miss a game it’s usually a classic so I’ll go for a Walsall win with a last minute winner. Although Barrow’s away form is pretty poor having not won an away game since September so hopefully it’ll be a lot more comfortable than that.

Unless they have changed the rules, which is more than possible. The team that loses the toss kicks off don’t they, I’m sure I noticed we kicked off in recent games where we have turned around.

You are right about that sun though, it is a right pain at certain times of year. I wish they had given us the other end when they built the ground.

I always thought, and I could be wrong it was just what I assumed, but the team losing the toss for ends chooses whether they kick off or not, it’s not necessarily a given. But I honestly don’t know.

I’m going on what I have always thought it to be, but rules change all the time and half the time I don’t even notice for ages.

I think if you win the toss you can either kick off or choose ends. I think most teams chose ends but I suppose I shouldn’t assume that.

From the FA Website:

  • the referee tosses a coin and the team that wins the toss decides which goal to attack in the first half or to take the kick-off
  • depending on the above, their opponents take the kick-off or decide which goal to attack in the first half
  • the team that decided which goal to attack in the first half takes the kick-off to start the second half

I think that means you are right, trust the FA to make it sound complicated though :joy: Basically, you know who chose which end to attack, because they will kick off second half.

Yes. we lose an edge thats for sure.

When I was a nipper if you owned the ball you decided everything you chose ends and had kick -off also how wide the jacket’s were placed in the opposition goalmouth goes without saying your own goal jackets were considerably less . Now them are rules no arguing or I’m going home .even had the power to disallow a goal and give penalties.
