Board update

Does Matt Jordan live in the U.K or what?

How can he be defining the strategy for the head coach if he’s not at the training ground most days? I would love that to be clarified in this sit down interview next week.

And yes Sadler is on probation now. Two more defeats and he is done here I think.

For goodness’ Hake .

We have all had a Cod laugh at this statement . What a red Herring . Matt Sadier , Darren Byfield and Gary Haddock must all be feeling the heat however .

We should all probably Tuna in to BBC WM tomorrow night to understand our Plaice . Unfortunately , as fans , we are but Prawns in the grand scheme of things in the chess game .

At least we haven’t got to see the ( Red) Mullet of Bonsers haircut in the Directors box each week.

Dont move a Mussel - much more to come tomorrow . Stay positive Cockle !

The script for the cookie monster is very predictable…now he will be chomping at the bit ….I can see a hatrick for Mr Cook.

This is Ai take on the statement..

Honestly, it reads like a classic “steady the ship” statement rather than a pre-sacking one.

A few things stand out to me:

1. It’s very collective, not targeted

They keep talking about “the Board, staff and players” together. There’s no hint of blame aimed at the manager specifically, which you usually start to see when a club is preparing the ground for a change.

2. The tone is reset, not rupture

Phrases like “reflect and reset” and “get back on track” usually mean they still believe the current setup can turn it around.

3. Timing matters

Mentioning the upcoming game with Grimsby Town and the “final third of the season” suggests they’re focused on short-term results rather than planning a managerial switch.

4. The co-chair coming in is notable

The fact Ben Boycott is visiting does show concern, but that often happens when owners want to show support and apply pressure at the same time. It doesn’t automatically mean a sack is imminent.

So is the manager close to going?

Right now, I’d say not immediately at Walsall FC.

It feels more like:

“You’ve got a short window to fix this”

rather than

“We’ve already decided to pull the trigger”

Usually you’d see stronger language, or talk about “reviewing all options,” if they were preparing fans for a dismissal.

Yep but let’s be honest it’s a very Walsall FC way of doing things isn’t it. Any other club going through this exact situation would have had Sadler gone by the time the players turned up for training on the Monday morning after Barnet.

If that’s not putting Matt Sadler on notice, I don’t know what is.

Got to agree, if this was a vote of confidence they would have named him by stating something like “The Board remains fully behind Mat and his staff."

The board meeting “numerous times this week” highlights that the hierarchy are having to take an active role rather than letting the coaching team solve the issue. Add on to that BB flying in starts to feel a hands on approach is having to be deployed by Trivela.

Not mentioning Sadler will have been deliberate, so as not to inflame fans further, but the noting of the Grimsby game feels like it is being framed as a must win.

I think this reaction is down to the two previous seasons’ drop offs, especially last season being hard on the emotions. Also the fact for the third January running the club have failed to adequately strengthen the team, especially the strikers. It is understandable really, last season left a mental scar with me.

It’s a good job we don’t have the Forest owner, we would probably have got through 30 managers over the last two seasons.

Like people have said, what’s the point of releasing a statement before we play 24 hrs later, what happens if Cook rips us one and then the Franchise beat us at hum, will they release another, statement should of been after last Saturday’s shit show and Sadler sacked, that would of been a statement

Barrow are giving new managers less than half a dozen games to prove themselves…. Not scared of pulling the trigger up there (their owner/CEO..)

Would hope Boycott’s reappearance coincides with the publication of the accounts.

Well … that and it’s also bollocks. There was plenty of “hysteria” when the team were 16th. I seem to remember protests and coffins being delivered. I seem to remember vitriol at every manager from Clarke to Flynn previously.

Anyone whinging about “hysteria” is normally upset that not everybody has exactly the same view of a given situation that they do. Looks more like apathy than hysteria to me, which is far more worrying.

maybe Trivela will announce that they have secured $400million investment to accelerate WFC progress to the Premier League?

I’ll have whatever you’re on pal.. :wink::rofl:

Surprised people are calling it a nothing statement. There’s a lot there if you read between the lines. Multiple board meetings, emphasis on the Grimsby game and, most importantly, Boycott coming over in person next week.

Seems to me that if we lose to Grimsby then MS is gone.

Those who usually talk about hysteria, are those who very rarely attend games.

It’s easy to spot.

I agree. I made a similar comment earlier in the thread. It is clear that the game is critical. Not sure it is a must win but it is clearly a must improve game.

Agree, the fact they are having to get involved says a lot.

Sadler will be feeling really uncomfortable.

There is plenty in there, but the big message seems to be that a bigger message is coming, hence my announcement about an announcement.

It does still give me an insight into the thinking of the higher ups though, so I’m as happy as can be, other than the video coming on Tuesday.

That’s 10 days after the last match and only 1 day before the next one. It’s been said above, but 2 poor performances and he’ll probably go, so it’s 10 days from the last game and could all change again within another 1-5 days.
