Bolton and Bury

Be interested to know if the club did vote for them to be reinstated .

If we did, it would worth a statement from WSFC about the general feeling of the support?

Andy Holt has stated that there was no vote:

I agree with the rubberstamping of the EFLā€™s original decision - rules is rules and if you donā€™t enforce them we might as well all go home and let the cheats take over.

However, some mention has been made on here of the effect on Bury fans - comments expressing sorrow that they are suffering for something outside of their control, to others saying they are getting what they deserve for not challenging their ā€œbuy success with money they have not gotā€ owners and basking in the temporary glory.

Whatever anyone thinks of Bonser, our club did not go down that route while he was in charge. From what LP has said on taking over and since, heā€™s not intending to splurge out either, or at least not while weā€™re in League 2 - if we do manage to get back to tier 3 heā€™s talking about restructuring in order to achieve and then maintain Championship and beyond by bringing in outside investment (he mentions the US).

If he manages to do it and it comes off while staying within the rules keeping the club solvent then great - but if not will our fans do what they are slating Bury fans for not doing and be demanding we DONā€™T go after a big tent signing to get us promoted to the next level but continue to live within our means forever in League 1?

Itā€™s not as binary as that. There are other options of how to successfully run a football club other than liquidation or frugality to the point of stagnation.

Our previous owner managed to keep us on the straight and narrow, whilst still diverting over Ā£400,000 a year towards his pension fund. Hopefully weā€™ve now got a blueprint in place that keeps that philosophy in place, and eventually regains control of one of our most profitable assets, which should allow us the opportunity to increase our playing budget at the right time.

Itā€™s about showing ambition at the correct times, not paying a 32 year old Jermaine Beckford Ā£10k a week on a three year deal.

Devastating to hear self-interest was served cold by many @EFL clubs today & their decision to relegate one less from L2 than admit Bury to League. Thank you to all those who spoke in support of it. Iā€™m meeting @forever_bury and others now. Will make further statement later. #UTS

Thatā€™s told you.

Were they not showing self interest when spending money they didnā€™t have ?? Pompous prat

Am I right in thinking they also had Vaughan on their books for a similar pay scale?
With gates of around 2/3/4 thou why were these folk not asking questions about whether a club like theirs could afford such salaries at the time?

Yeah it was a bit ridiculous. Pope also reportedly turned down 4k a week at Vale to sign for Bury.

The first game of 17/18 was incredible when we turned up at Gigg Lane with our mish-mash of free transfers and loan signings, to compete against their lower league dream team. Didnā€™t stop their fans giving it the big one that day!

All the figures mentioned were EXCLUDING bonuses too. Madness

Yes, as in ā€˜weā€™ve run our club properly but could find ourselves relegated just to give Bury an EFL placeā€™. They can smeg off.

To resurrect an old thread, appears thatā€™s Buryā€™s so called buyer was just more pie in the sky:-

ā€œA prospective buyer for the club ended their interest on Monday, leaving Bury on the brink of liquidation.ā€

Primark the bastards.

And pulp their historic stands into low quality MDF.
