Why with a club like ours with a limited budget would you sign a lot of players who you are not sure about , anyone you sign must be able to play at the level required

How many times I wrote nearly exactly the same words? Too many it seems. Solid in def, few glimpses of good offensive play, but without scoring. I liked Roberts in few interventions, I liked Guthrie, who looked like a beating heart in the midfield and I liked how we looked, generally.
