I think it is possible that it isn’t just Lowe’s goals we have missed. We have missed him as an outlet. Those balls down the channels to relieve pressure aren’t nearly as effective without someone who has a chance of getting on to some of them, or being close enough to put pressure on.
There is more to it than that but it could be a factor.
Nor me. I think the way he plays, pretty relaxed and a bit casual sometimes, gives the impression hes more tired than he is. Hes a huge danger to the opposition when we attack and a break then 2 games is a bit of a disaster. I see weaker points all over the pitch and never really understood him being singled out.
He’s been a great signing, but his performances and energy have waned over the last month or so. Fully expect that from a starter in presumably his first full season in pro football, but his game time and that of Gordon could have been managed better given their importance to how we play.
I wouldn’t be too upset if Horby and comley don’t feature again for us. Horby is a big lad who was rooted to his line all night, seemed to have no idea whether to come out for the ball numerous times. Comley is a lower level league 2 players, to not replace him for the excellent Stirk annoyed me last night. Game was crying out for a bit of quality.
I thought it was a good performance particularly second half . However the game was spoilt for me by the constant moaning from a couple of chaps sat behind me constantly moaning. Also it was embarrassing the slating of players when they were clearly giving it a go and I think JJ s stance at the end was a sign of the hurt it caused them when they are giving it there all against tough opponents
I admire anyone that travels down to Kent on a Thursday night to watch us play, especially when it’s on the telly. I can’t understand for the life of me why someone would do that and then bitch and moan about our players for 90 minutes, especially given the season we are having.
Nowt so queer as folk, as some northern person once said.
Who was doing that? I didn’t go through all of the thread on here to be fair. It was half 2 when I got in last night so couldn’t be arsed.
I’m not sure I’d do it again, I struggle with the travelling more these days. Was good support in the ground for us though as far as I am aware. A bit of frustration in the first half before our goal, but mostly getting behind the team.
Ah right. I think at Walsall there will always be a few that enjoy the moan. I might do a bit on here now and then but at games I am always behind the team.
There was a bloke sat in front of us last night. My oldest lad, he talks a bit loud and this bloke kept butting in and picking faults with what he was saying. I had to say to him in the end, he’s only a kid mate. The bloke then disappeared and didn’t come back for the second half, then reappeared with about 2 minutes left. I think he’d had a few to be fair.
I did notice Jellis at the end, he kind of just stood in front of the fans looking very subdued clapping lightly, while all of the other players were heading off the pitch. I didn’t post that though cos you get accused of being a body language expert. It was a bit odd though, he looked like we had missed out on promotion.
As someone who doesn’t go to many away matches I was very impressed with our support last night and didn’t hear much moaning however the team deserves support home and away from now on. They gave their all last night and showed they were up for the fight.
Don’t think it’s been mentioned before but the substitution by Bromley at half time was something I’ve not seen before - the player being replaced was actually out on the pitch ready for the kick off. What was that all about???
@Coop63 Mat Sadler did mention the fans, like he always does, in the Walsall FC official post match which came out the following day. Never once does he fail to acknowledge the fans in any of our games home or away in person.
To be fair, Sadler does have passion for our club, even though his laid back approach leads us to believe otherwise.
Do most of the players feel the same? Jamma and Jellis definitely, but what about the rest, particularly the loanees.
Lakin definitely looks like he loves it. Taylor Allen was fist pumping cos he won a challenge the other night. Liam Gordon always comes across as passionate about playing for us. Probably some of the others are too but just have more reserved personalities.
It’s not like many of the loans are getting any time on the pitch so it is hard to say, but there is a decent core who are definitely more than committed on the pitch. I don’t think that has been one of our problems in any way.
