Saturday’s performance, while affected by the conditions, was not great. We could not have complained if we had got just the one point. I hope Saddler has the courage to change a winning team and start with a better eleven that includes Williams, Hall, Comley, Adomah and, if fully fit, McEntee.
They started the following season in the second tier, as did we, having both been promoted in the 98-99 season that @Semaj referenced.
Ah, I had forgotten the play-offs!
Maybe starting next season in the second tier is more realistic, anyway. Would love to see them in the National League (North) now that Pep has decided to stay.
Starting a bit late for you mate
Bromley are what I call meat and potatoes. You know exactly what you’re going to get from them from the first minute until the last. They’re big, and by that I mean they are fooking massive - the biggest team I think I’ve ever seen - and they play to their strengths. If your team isn’t up for a scrap it will get it’s nose bloodied.
True, but this season you would like to think that the team’s attitude and confidence is baked into their preparations to every game, and they have ability to rise their levels during matches. If we start well we can slice through their defence and grab a two goal cushion before half time., and then the coaches need to use their loaf to manage our substitution’s effectively to rest some players.
All will be proven later tonight anyway.
I’d have Harry back in tonight instead of DD to deal with Michael Cheek. He’s an old fashioned forward and H would be perfect to deal with that threat
Why what happened anything special
He’s definitely the threat mate.Watching his highlights of the goals he scored this season there were plenty of cheeky finishes.
I didn’t think I’d ever be nervous for a game against Bromley at home, but here we are. It’s a big game in terms of capitalising on results and consolidating our position.
For what it is worth I back us to do it. Bromley have won once in the league since their surprise start, picking up some red cards along the way and poor discipline. They’ve had a break but so had we before Saturday. But the real reason is we look solid, rather than any suggestion that Bromley look like easy pickings, and I think we have proven that our form to this point is no fluke.
Looks like jamma and Nathan are in for a rude awakening then…
I see what you did there mate
Anyone reckon we’ll see a couple of team changes tonight?
Going in to December we need to manage the squad fitness. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Hall, Earing and possibly DJ get a start tonight, maybe even Weir.
Possibly ,yes. But I’d say it’s more likely we stick with the team tonight, and change things on Saturday.
Can’t see it to be honest.
Success this season has partly been down to having a settled side, so changes only come in when they’re enforced.
I thought I would go in here for a swifty. Thought it would be a good omen. Beer and experience poor.
Is that Cardigan? I think I’ve been in there many, many years ago. Like you, I was attracted by the name. Can’t really remember the experience.
Attempted to do a snapshot of info for this game, will try and make it a bit more slick for the next one, there’s probably an error or two lurking in there also. Bromley like an early goal and haven’t lost this season in the 3 times they have taken the lead away this season, only once have we not won at home when taking the lead which was the Fleetwood fiasco. The ref tonight has only his 2nd game at this level so hopefully not another Crewe debacle. Otherwise I’m hoping we can get some joy down the wings as the zones of control are showing we can have some possession down the flanks today. Both teams probably going to match up 3-5-2. If we can play our usual keep it tight first half and go at the them in the 2nd, I think we’ll be fine. See you all at the Bescot!
These are the type of games we always fumble. Absolute must win. We need to make these games in hand count
