The most surprising stat from that list is that Farquharson has only played 3 games all season. What a waste of a wage! He hardly played last season either. He should be the first name on the released list!

Lakin couldn’t finish his dinner! I’d love to see his shots on target per shots taken ratio! I’d be surprised if it’s better than 10%! There was one home game early in the season when he had 3 shots in good positions in about 5 minutes, each one he snatched at and screwed hopelessly wide. Does he practice shooting? Having said that, him on the left, Jellis on the right and Stirk in the middle was a very well-balanced midfield - I’m surprised that Sadler hasn’t gone back to that combination, and play Hall in the hole.
I remember Lowe messing up 1 on 1 at Accrington cost us 3pts. We’ve missed him but wasn’t always deadly.

That chance at Chesterfield for Lakin and a few others over the season was more a lack of pace to get away so snatched at it.
I’d be surprised if any team in the league has had as many shots go wide and over the bar in particular than us. Stirk does at least one a game. The one time he kept his shot low it went in the bottom corner.

Every striker misses chances. This league is so palpably and consistently garbage I would hazard that if Nathan Lowe had signed on loan for Carlisle instead of us they would be approximating or in the play-offs and we’d be in the bottom half at best.
I don’t think anyone that wins promotion from this league this season gets anywhere near above bottom 6 in division 3 without a serious overhaul of playing squad.
This is the worst division of English professional football I’ve ever seen, its monumentally shyte. The fact that bang average Chesterfield who struggled for years to get out of the National League, or Wimblebore could actually manage to win promotion from it is laughable, as is the fact that Doncaster are champions - they’re a very average division 4 team in most other seasons.

Had a coffee today in Berat on our last full day in Albania. An Albanian waiter knew all about Walsall. He asked me why we had blown a massive lead in our league. I’m afraid he didn’t rate our chances in the playoffs. Don’t worry - I put him right.
It seems we are famous (notorious) even in the most obscure corners in the Balkans!

You should send that to Ben Sadler and co they might start to understand wtf happened instead of dragging out rok to spin a positive narrative at the fans.

Listened to a couple of of other manager interviews recently, in very stark contrast to our “its all going very well” narrative, the one that struck me was Fabian Hurzeler at Brighton yesterday. When asked to sum up his first season in charge he basically said that they have got to learn from their mistakes as well as the positives and be balanced in that appraisal, he actually used the phrase “you learn nothing by being too happy clappy”. When I tried to find a link to post, he said the same thing a couple of weeks ago
And that’s a young manager, 32 years old!! in the first season at his club.
I think he makes a very good point.

Very similar outlook and analysis by Pereira yesterday. To me both managers are realists and keep their feet firmly on the ground. Certainly not the “we are where we want to be” rhetoric.
