Chesterfield (H) February 15th, 3pm

We will win this! 3-1 the final score.

Wheatley as a holding midfielder?

This will be our Waterloo I think, we have shown that we are struggling in the last few games. We have been tested recently and to be honest failed miserably.

The Gillingham game especially had memories of the past 5yrs come flooding back. Sadler is correct, you can’t just make wholesale changes for the Chesterfield game that could make things worse, but we could (if Sadler wasn’t so stubborn) have gradually introduced players over the past 3-4 games. The DJ situation is a disgrace to be honest.

He scores 2 goals to grab us a point against Salford, and what’s his prize? Back on the bench, obviously he was brought back on for about 15mins against Gillingham to try and save Sadlers embarrassment.

If I was DJ I would have insisted on a loan in January .
I don’t think we can bluff our way through this one. 4-1 to Chesterfield.

If we do lose by 4-1 I think it will be a turning point,we will either change a style that just about every league 2 side knows how to counter and do enough to at least get in the playoffs or sink like the Titanic with Sadlers last words " I’m sticking to what worked in the first half of the season" as he does his final salute on the bow.

Tough Game but I feel one we should win.

Main changes for me would be Adomah in for Barret.
Allen for Weir.
Lakin in for Mcentee with lakin over to left and jellis to right.
Harrison in for J. Gordon.

So many new players I’ve forgotten who’s who !

Just don’t think he’ll put Albert at WB. I’m assuming he doesn’t think he has the legs to go up and down the flank for. 70 mins at least hence why he shoehorned him as a makeshift CF. Should give Nathan a go

Sadly, i fear a 1-3 reverse.

Sounds like 1995 then…but we ended up gaining promotion.

Don’t think Weir deserves to be dropped, would like to see him in the team for a little bit.

What are people’s thoughts on a midfield three of Jellis, Stirk and Allen?

Gives the midfield balance with Allen being left footed

Wouldn’t be against that although I don’t think Lakin has done too much wrong tbh and would like to see the original midfield trio back together. If anything, I’d be more inclined to rest Stirk or Jellis

Rumour had it on Tuesday that he was at Carlisle on deadline day but didn’t get done in time due to the Ellis Harrison deal going right to the wire there wasn’t enough time to complete the loan deal.

That is an option but would play Lakin myself.

I’d go:

Hornby

McEntee Williams Weir

Adomah - RWB , L Gordon LWB

Stirk

Right 8 - Jells Left 8 - Taylor Allen

Matt and Harrison with DJ and Wheatley told to be raring to go at 60 mins for one / both.

Id love to see one of the young midfielders ready to at HT as well if any other midfield 3 are not on it

But the reality is that it will be

Simkin

Okagbue Williams Allen

Barret / Gordon

Stirk

Jellis and Mcentee

Matt and J Gordon

as were so dominant against Gillingham (? !! xx

If Sadler really thought we did well Tuesday he won’t change a ‘ performing ‘ team
Only change i expect is allen for weir. Then it will be as you are

Pretty much as I see it, PGS.

Simkin seems to be getting in the neck for the Gillingham goal, but the video shows players (OM) sauntering around at the throw-in without pressuring the play, so I’d continue with him in goal.

Barrett seems to be having a little crisis but on his day he’s fine - did anyone notice Jamma having an extra-long huddle with him pre-game on Tuesday? Midfield should return to the Stirk / Jellis / Lakin combo that has brought us so much success.

Up top with Jamma, I’d also go for Harrison, although Levi might offer a different threat.

Not averse to seeing Uncle Albert though, from the start or as a sub. He offers so much quality.

Dropping Tommy Simkin would be a big mistake for me, no way Sadler will be doing that.

He doesn’t need to read the Riot Act (1714) aloud to the players, just a few subtle changes and a bit of luck will see us fine.

Good to see it looks like another bumper audience for Saturday, may even break the 7,000 spectator barrier with a strong travelling gate.

Can see a 1-4 thumping to be honest and MS to say we were the better team and we will go again next week

J Gordon and Stirk out for me.
Simkin
Dave, Harry, T Allen
Barrett & L Gordon
Jellis, McEntee, Lakin
Matt & DJ

The reason he’s getting it in the neck is before the throw in he had chance to come out and collect the ball, which meant that that passage of play wouldnt have happened. But i agree he should have been closed down better post throw in.

Exactly but to be fair to him and our other players it was a great shot and goal from an unexpected source. I think he had only scored once before.
