I just hope that everyone attending tomorrow brings their voices and backs the team for the 90 minutes.
Then after that feel free to let out your anger and frustrations if need be .

0-7 Walsall. UpTheBottlers!

Where is eveyone meeting up before the game?

Any ideas of where to park?

Mat Sadler: Walsall boss says his squad are ‘fighters, not victims’ - BBC Sport

Was it the voice of a 7 foot interdimensional lizard?
And were you in Waitrose at the time looking in the mirror type thing at the exposed back of the freezer cabinet of the shelves stripped bare by rabid asylum seekers?

Just asking for “concerned about really boring oh ironic stuff of Didsbury”.

0-0, promotion by default.

Yes it’s a fair question and one ive thought about a bit. It deserves a thorough response, I said earlier I was a bit baffled.Theres no dominant cause or obvious reason. If forced, It may sound a cop out but I do think we have been unlucky.

Just to give one example we have had 10 draws since February, if we could have chosen to convert 2 draws into 1 win and 1 loss we would now have 5 more points which would have us promoted.

That is ignoring any specific misfortune in the games themselves where there are examples where we deserve more points.

Once the season has finished I will be happy to give a more thorough response and the reasons for the percentages below, but I agree with Sadler that now is not the time for analysis. Now is the time to support the lads.

Broadly since January left I would say poor results are down to:

  • Walsall being unlucky - 35%
  • Sadler focusing on long term/principles rather than short term results - 25%
  • Walsall being worked out by opposition - 10%
  • Walsall players knackered - 10%
  • Walsall players attitude -10%
  • Mistakes by Sadler - 5%
  • Bescot atmosphere - 5%

I think we will win at Crewe, the tide will turn, but can’t see Bradford not winning unfortunately.

If we are in the playoffs we just need a reset.

3 games 100% effort. 100% support. We can do this. Don’t give up.

We cant do it mate

Let it go its finished

Your broad based response is creditable but I really wouldn’t agree that 35% of our recent downturn has been down to bad luck…. How so?

I read on here that someone had mentioned the bad luck of conceding good goals - this isn’t bad luck…

Also, whilst we’ve conceded a number of deflected (longer range) goals - many have been because opposing teams have worked out that we are crap at clearing our lines and particularly rubbish at eliminating threats from shots around the box…

I don’t have the stats to back this up but the amount of efforts that have resulted in long range goals (what MS would describe as a ‘worldie’) have been significant this season and this isn’t bad luck either - it’s that we seem to invite the attempts by not getting the ball out of any danger areas…

Also, it’s difficult to accept that any of our bad performances this season are down to atmosphere at Bescot - generally it’s been excellent for the most part.

Today’s the day… let’s put all the shit about Sadler or how we’ve bottled it aside. Last chance for that automatic spot. I’m expecting nothing but more misery but praying for a miracle. Come on!

We couldn’t get motivated when results went our way in the morning prior to the Barrow game. We could not get motivated when results went our way prior to Accrington at home. We did not even look like we would beat Harrogate, Newport or Accrington. There is no chance we will go up today or via the playoffs.

Id say, we have had a lot of luck in this run in with other result’s. Just didnt take advantage.

Ill 100% get behind them for this game and the playoffs.

Finally looking forward to it.

If we can get back to 1st half of the season form, we can win the playoffs. We need to win today to get that platform to build on.

YES! This is the exact mentality we need for the remaining 1/3/ 4 games… email the SLO and ask if u can give this speech pre-match please!

It is questionable if there is even such a thing as luck but if there is it will be a few % either way over 20 games, nothing like 35% The team that makes the least mistakes wins, the bigger the sample size the closer to true results you will get. 20 games is a decent sample size.

This just isn’t true, it is a narrative that you invented. His long term principles aren’t going to do him much good when he is visiting the job centre. For arguments sake let’s say it is true. We should add that 25% to mistakes by Sadler, that leaves it on 30% for mistakes by Sadler.

True I think. We should also add that 10% to mistakes by Sadler, for persisting in playing the same every game with no idea how to change it. 40% Mistakes by Sadler.

True, add that 10% to mistakes by Sadler. He has run this team into the ground when he had options to rest players. 50% Mistakes by Sadler.

I guess this could be added to mistakes by Sadler. I do feel the players have to shoulder some of the blame though, so I won’t add that.

The atmosphere is fine. It is one of the best home atmosphere’s in League 2. I’ve been to 15 away games this season in the league and none of them are as good as Bescot. Add that to the fact we haven’t had much to shout about for some time now. Players have to lift the crowd at times also.

I make that at least 50% Sadler’s fault, I’d say it is more in reality, because the luck factor you talked about just isn’t right.

I was about to comment on that :joy:

“5% mistakes by Sadler’

When most of the other points are… mistakes by Sadler.

A strange reinvention of what’s happened.

Link back to @Semaj post - he was spot on. Weird managment decisions have cost us this back end of the season.

Luck meh. U make ur own luck i think.

My mentality is not the reason our season has collapsed. If I had given the team talk at any time prior to today we would be promoted by now! If you want I will just sit here and smile and clap my hands. I am a realist and can only go with what I see. If you can find some way to be blindly positive then well done to you.
UP THE SADDLERS

In reality it is a mixture of Sadler, the players, and a drop in confidence and a belief we can win.

Losing a 2 goal lead at Cheltenham was not bad luck for example. The goals had an element of fortune about them but that was completely on Sadler, and I feel that was the turning point. He had no idea how to lift the team after that. That is his job.

Some players need to look at themselves and ask if they did enough but the majority of fault lies with the manager, and then Trivela for not acting when it was clear what was going to happen.

Exactly,

what people may consider bad luck, in most cases it has a cause.
