Fulham released him .im pretty sure he is actually our player now unfortunatly
Yep, I saw that aswell. That’s exactly what happened.
Lazy journalism or are the BBC on to something?
How dreadful was that?
Rose - one very good save
Facet - national League player at best
Pring - did ok at times
Scare - booked and lucky not to be sent off so what does he do? Slides into a nothing challenge out on the touchline and gets booked again.
Sadler - past it
Jules - did absolutely nothing wrong, was subbed after 18 minutes by an inept manager and was clearly fuming about it.
Holden - whether he should be starting or not, did nothing wrong and nothing right during his 18 minutes until subbed by an inept manager. Also, whatever you think of this player, what effect does this have on clubs loaning us young players if they think the manager is going to treat them like this
Kinsella - hides all game, rarely available for the pass, got set up beautifully for a shot about 20 yards out and bottled it, passing out wide instead
Gaffney - abysmal, dismal miss for the open goal
Adebayo - abysmal. Managed to miss three easy chances, fall over a lot and then, crucially, lose the ball by the corner flag with only a minute or so to go, leading to the attack from which the equaliser was scored
McDonald - why didn’t he start? Most dangerous player we had
Hardy - movement good, missed a couple of good chances
Bates - this lad is a star in the making but I fear he’ll be ruined playing in this team. It’s shocking that our most inexperienced player is relied upon to orchestrate our play. Dated to shoot, unlike others, leading to our equaliser
The manager - an absolute shambles. Presumably the switch after 18 minutes was tactical in which case he’s admitting he was out thought by a tier 6 manager. He clearly hasn’t got a clue any more and I’m sorry to say he has to go. He’s worse than keates, and that’s saying something.
I was the one the bloke in the yellow “squared” up too. He said i had double standerds for shouting at DC and priasing Wes (who in my eyes right now is our only source of gonig forward) and shook wes’s hand… He was some older bloke so didnt really react then his missus was in my face telling me too back off! Didnt get the whole situation
I enjoyed that today
Proper FA cup tie it had everything
Great support from darlington proper genuine league club I.e not a Crawley or Stevenage
Some fair comments from dc and I think he’s right about the couple of windows needed
Some good performances from rose, Jules while he was on, Alfie Bates, Mcdonald and Lavery
A decent 5 players that can be a core to be added to in the next few windows
I’m staying behind this set up because it won’t take too much to get back to what it was like at Northampton 1st game
Let’s just see
As a Walsall fan you have too see the dark humour in it all.
It was actually quite funny hearing lots of fans singing’off off’ before the ref produced the second yellow for Scarr.
Dreadful.
Rose was anonymous. His only “good save” was a fairly central shot that he reacted late to and made a good reaction stop to save his blushes. A good save but made completely of his own error IMO, I was right behind the shot and it had no accuracy on it at all.
Shay Facey was anonymous and is the polar opposite of a Nicky Devlin who runs for days and is active both defensively and then will bust a gut to overlap offensively. Not sure if this is just how he is as a full back or what Clarke is telling him to do but it really makes our attack even more one dimensional and pedestrian. Cameron Pring was a lot better offensively he just has no one to cross it in to.
Dan Scarr should never wear a Walsall shirt again. Abject performances coupled with a yellow that should have been a straight red from another of his mistakes and then he decides he has had enough and gets himself sent off for a silly challenge, he was practically begging the ref to send him off. Get rid. This is the exact kind of attitude that we need no-where near the club and have plagued our squad since Deano left. Need to bring the “No Nobhead Policy” back.
Matt Sadler was okay, he actually looked like he gave a ■■■■ today but only after Zak Jules went off, maybe he realised he was lucky it wasn’t him who got the hook and then decided to actually try.
Liam Kinsella was a 6/10, can’t fault him, ran for days in a ■■■■■ team, but didn’t particularly add much either. He needs ball players and people who can run a game around him so that he can do the dirty work of pressing, winning second balls and winning tackles.
Alfie Bates is a credit to the team, young but with a mature head and the bravery to try and receive the ball and play it, and out equaliser was all him when he decided to put the team on his back and work their goalkeeper from distance. And the corner for our second was fantastic by him.
James Hardy and Wes McDonald should start every game, they are so much better than what we have and they both make opposing defences ■■■■ themselves. Even if they weren’t particularly amazing today, we had so much more impetus, quality and attacking prowess with them on the pitch.
Adebayo is a pure joke of a footballer, how he managed to put so many chances of the bar is a bizarre joke. Surely we have to look into him match-fixing? Or atleast get him a trial as a kicker for Walsall Rugby Club?
Gaffney is an absolute donkey, get him gone ASAP, waste of a shirt. He provides zero quality whatsoever, he makes Bakayoko look like R9.
Caolan Lavery is the only good striker we have at the club, need to keep him fit.
This was the game where I lost my faith in Darrell. I think we should look elsewhere and build again before he burdens us with anymore of his talentless deadwood.
Looks like the BBC are a season ahead of themselves!
To be fair Scarr isn’t usually as dreadful as he was today.
He looked like ( and played like)he’d been on the lash on Friday night and crawled in at 5am.
Believe it or not that more or less described some of our players in the 80’s and 90’s but that is where the similarity ends because THEY were footballers
Where to start with that.
Before the match, I was actually quite intrigued to see whether there would be any noticeable difference in quality between the two sides. Unfortunately, there really isn’t much between us and a mid-table National League North side. Darlington were first to every ball, created the better chances and just looked a lot more likely to go on and win the game.
The first twenty minutes in particular was a new level of ineptitude from a team that look completely devoid of any ideas all over the pitch. Darlington could quite easily have been 2-0 up by the time Clarke made the double sub.
I think our greater fitness started to show as the game wore on, but it’s worth remembering that we only scored via a couple of howlers from their ‘keeper (not sure why Darlo fans were so pleased with him re-signing on loan).
Fair play to them in the end as they completely deserved something from the tie. Superb support aswell, and it only served to remind us of some of our fantastic away days, Brentford in ‘16 springs to mind.
Can anyone realistically see us going up there and getting through?
If we’re to have any chance of scraping our way out of this mess then Lavery, Hardy and MacDonald have to be starting each game.
We are right in the mire. What players would even want to join us in January?
To be fair, Walsall’s 2 goals were goalkeeping howlers. However, the defending at the end from the free kick is absolute schoolboy! If only two players were marked in the six yard box. It reminds me of this: Trending: Soccer Dad - YouTube
I hope it’s not on the BBC this replay because it’s gonna be embarrassing to watch us on live TV we can’t pass can’t defend can’t do anything really…how bloody embarrassing is that gonna be
I’m afraid you can have all the training ability you like but some times it doesn’t matter , as hard as you try you just can’t polish a turd
And let’s face it that is what the 3 strikers are
I’d add you can have all the coaching badges in the world but you just can’t…
Chunk it’s starting to get a bit louder with every week passing mate ( Ian Holloway’s barmy army )
you could be right mate get a bet on now
How many times last season were people begging for a manager to make a brave, tactical decision to turn a game around? If our strikers had taken some gilt-edged chances today we’d be in the next round with a fairly comfortable win. Our defending for their second goal was shocking. A manager can only do so much, the players have to play like the professionals they are paid to be. DC has no control over poor finishing and poor defending during the match. We need strikers who know where the net is and midfielders who dont just make up the numbers.
