well the southern section has been drawn
here we go
fleetwood travel to leicester homecoming for vardy
and us home to macclesfield
Great draw
Great chance to make round 3 there.
Macc lads - a good chance to progress and draw a big club
Was hoping for Villa or West Brom and was looking likey for a while.
Typical Walsall cup draw, hopefully will play better v them than two seasons ago!
Last season we would have been looking at it as a potential banana skin
Instead of thinking we will probably go out we are thinking about who would we like in Round 3!
And there, ladies & gentlemen, is the difference this season!
I just like the title of this thread…2nd Round Draw…different season already!
As Chunkster says, a home tie against lowly opposition no longer thought of as a banana skin.
Sorry FHTF your almost identical post appeared as I was typing!
But yes, possibly round 3, we would really be spoilt!
Thats alright AM, sorry Worsul4eva, its nice to agree for once
Walsall vs Macclesfield
Hopefully revenge for the embarrassing 1st round defeat of November 2016
Happy with that. A great chance to progress and have an even better chance of playing a ‘big’ side. Can’t really ask for better than the two lowest ranked sides in the first two rounds!
Home tie and a decent opportunity to progress. Chuffed!
Depends what team he puts out. We can’t get complacent. I would go for the win with a full strength team.
We haven’t beaten 'em yet!
They’ve knocked us out of cups twice in fairly recent years.
Also, there’s a third round???
I predict a gate of around 2500.
They beat Bradford so ain’t gonna be a push over
Not sure how much of a first team Bradford City put out in that game though … Richard O’Donnell (remember him?) was on the bench. Score at 90 minutes was 1-1, and Macc went through 4-2 on penalties.
Last season i would have agreed 100% but we have a different set up now, and in another few months i would feel confident that we could give ANYONE a good game, win or lose, there is an air of confidence and a wanting to win attitude in this team that i haven’t felt for some time, takes me back to the good old giant killing days of the 80’s and 90’s
