Know nothing about the lad but from watching his highlights he likes to get a shot away early, good with his feet, athletic, same type as Lowe. Looks tall too so another threat from our set pieces.

Interesting that he mentioned doing work experience, i.e a few short term loans in other environments. Something we are doing with our young lads. Welcome Ethan, hoping you do well. Seem level headed and wants to progress his career. Hopefully this is a win win for both parties.

Sorry, I thought he was a midfielder! Even so a replacement we needed.

Don’t want to be grumpy. But is this the future? Getting promising strikers in on loan?

Would prefer if we develop our own.

Me too mate. I honestly believe we were in for Draper but Lincoln messed us around. If we can’t get our own then players like Ethan are the next best thing.

It will take time to do that though. Like most things at Walsall, they have been neglected for a long time, but we seem to be on the right path now.

I don’t know much about this new lad, but there is no way we could have signed someone as good as Lowe permanently without breaking the bank. We aren’t a one man team but we wouldn’t be sitting as pretty as we are now without him. Getting over the line this season is the most important thing. Once we are an established league one side there will be more room to develop our own players I think.

Watching them highlights, he looks a very similar player to Lowe and looks like he knows where the goal is. I know that is youth football but looks to have a bit of swagger and arrogance about his play which is needed by a striker. How many times did I hear ‘he deserves that goal from the hard work he has put in all game’. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him take DJs place on the bench today.

Good signing this is according to a Utd mate, says he will be better than Lowe :man_shrugging:

Similar profile to Lowe it seems, so that does sound like more considered planning to replace him.

Best of luck Ethan, go smash some goals in.

Well don’t be then

So would I and so would many other fans but it is part of the game these days. Skilful use of the loan system can be the difference between success and failure. So many good youngsters are on the books of the top clubs it is likely that we shall be having to do this for a few seasons yet.

Some good
Clips on here

And if Lowe had come through our youth setup he would have moved upwards long ago. Even if he hadn’t been poached by a bigger club for peanuts, someone would have made us an offer we couldn’t refuse in this transfer window and he would have been sold.

This is the way.

We all want that but how often does it happen? Now and again we get a Don Penn, David Kelly, Kyle Lightbourne, Matty Fryatt. Seems like once a decade? Lots of clubs use the loan market now and this appears to be the modern way, (at the moment). Agree we need to develop our own but can’t guarantee it will be a goal scorer who we sell on. Could be a defender, goalie etc. Don’t be grumpy, rejoice we are doing so well with picking up players and making them better and most importantly forging them into a proper team.

Every team outside the PL has loan players - they are part of the game - so the job of the staff is to bring in the best available, that is players that are worthy of being in the first team, not just making up the numbers. Obviously, our league position and our success with Lowe (and some others) makes it easier but I think the way Trivela do things makes a difference too.

I go back to when we were looking for someone to replace Flynn and Trivela said that the new Head Coach would have to buy into the Trivela way of doing things. Many posters, at the time, saw this as deterring the best applicants (a reasonable point, by the way) but we can see now how the idea of doing things as a team across the club can reap benefits.

Much better than Dopey😉

Stop this negative trolling please.

In all seriousness - fair point. But if it gets us the wins and there is plan b, c ,d when they leave then let’s roll with it !

A big welcome to Ethan. Hopw he can show us what he can really do and be a great addition to the last half of the season.

If he has been training with for the past several days this sounds like the signing I heard would be announced on Tuesday. No idea it would be him as i thought that it would be the Palace lad to be honest.
