Former players - where are they now?

What a strange twist of fate! …fingers crossed.

Will Grigg knocking in a couple tonight, getting warmed up for Saturday no doubt

Take smith back over schoolboy simkin

Give him a break though it’s one game, he needs to learn from this quickly as do others! The lad is 19 and learning his trade. His performance was not up to scratch though so Hornby starts for me on Saturday.

One thing that made me smile tonight (after that shambles…)

Was Liam Kinsella started for Cheltenham tonight… at right back.

Have a wonderful evening everyone

Made your point in your initial post . No need to hammer the kid.

You’re starting to get obsessed, a bit like Gensax did with DJT.

…and supplied the cross for Cheltenham’s winner.

Interesting that Hornby was on trial at Chesterfield over the summer but he obviously ended up at Walsall.

Personally, against a big Paul Cook team, we need the likes of Donervan, Comley and Hornby to add experience (and height in DD and SH’s cases).

For perspective, I’m pretty sure that Villa gave Liverpool a whooping by 6 or 7 in the season that the Reds won the premier league.

I’d take a point on Saturday if someone offered it to me right now. Onwards and upwards though, it’s a blip and the referee looked weak from what I have seen (especially their third goal).

If only people had listened eh?

It’s like a sliding doors moment. He should have just stayed there - he’s a right back.

No, they did the double over Villa that season. However, early the following season the Aston lot did hand out a 7-2 thrashing at Villa Park. Iirc it was the same day Spurs scored six at OT so MOTD was interesting that night.

It was an appalling decision. Simkin was basically assaulted as two players jumped into him. Given the protection usually afforded to keepers, this was nonsense.

Mossive reality check last night, no one came out of that debacle with anything more than a bloody nose, it will be interesting on Saturday a real test of what we are about, fans calling for changes, don’t be surprised if Sadler stays with the same 11 and bench.

Just seen the replay of their 3rd goal on the highlights (1 min, 03 seconds). Yep, that should have been a free kick to us. Mind you, not too many of our players protesting about the challenges on Simkin there.

Was telling that they all thought a free-kick had been given for a few seconds.

However, it can’t be used as an excuse.

It was a definite foul. I never even gave it a second thought at the time then looked up and they were celebrating :man_shrugging:

Unfortunately they pumped us for three more.

Not an excuse but if the ref had given the obvious foul on Lowe when the defender grabbed him and throw him to the ground on the edge of the penalty area the first equaliser would have happened either
It was well worked though tbh

When the player strikes the ball there is a Fleetwood player lying on Top of Simkin

You’re right. Their No.5 is on top of him on the ground.

Also a lot of holding by Coughlan (who seemed to be the main instigator of taunting us Walsall fans, more than once) on Bennett. How were these infringements not seen by the officials?

People keep saying this, it was one ball into the centre mid, who turned on it and played in their striker. Credit to them, but to be honest I think it was disappointing we were cut open by essentially one pass, then Okagbue lost his man.

I can’t see the incident on highlights. But wasn’t he the last defender? Isn’t that a sending off offence if the ref had called it?
