Vale fans pining for his return again he’s only any good in League 2 he’s been sacked 3 times now when he’s been in League one.
I don’t think many Walsall fans would be calling for his return, even if we failed to get promotion this year. On the other hand, he was better than his immediate successors: Dutton, Taylor and Flynn.
DC, a bang average Walsall manager better regarded by some supporters than the bloke who has us top of the league right now.
There was one poster on here who thought Brian Dutton was worth persisting with. It takes all sorts.
DC, a legend at Bristol Rovers. Did nothing with us. Sir Ray, a legend with us, did nothing at Bristol Rovers. Funny how some managerial appointments work isn’t it and don’t at others
I spoke to Sir Ray about his time at Bristol Rovers and he considered it a success. He said something along the lines that they finished one off the bottom of the league the season before he took over. He took almost 1 million off the wage budget and left them in 12th place. That is his side of the story of course. I think the Bristol fans were expecting more, considering what he did for us, and they weren’t keen on the “negative football”
You are right though, sometimes the timing is just right and things all come together, and more often than not they don’t.
He was sacked by Rovers on 16th January 2004 when they were 11th.
While it is true that in 2002/03 Rovers finished 20th in the fourth division, he was the manager for the whole of that season, and when he was appointed in April 2002 Rovers were mid-table.
I don’t think they were mid table if he took over in April 2002, they finished 23rd in the 2001/2002 season. Then yes, 20th the following Season under Graydon.
Guess who was an used sub for Stoke tonight … yet again. ffs!
You are right, and I was wrong to say Bristol Rovers were mid-table when Graydon took over on 25th April 2002.
Some comments from a few on the Blackpool board following their narrow win over League 2 bound Cambridge on Tues.
Gerry Ingrams Blonde Hair: ‘I thought Bennett (?) their no 2 was a fine RWB.’
Dave 62: ‘Yep, their RB was Bennett and I thought he was their best player.’
King Billy: ‘Was there standout player by some distance IMO.’
West_View: ‘Agreed, let’s buy him in summer’
Mark Robins is not hated enough.
Will end up at somewhere like Crawley or Cambridge.
Weren’t they in league one a few years before that under Ian Holloway?
Just checked Wiki and they finished 5th in Division 2 as it was called then in 97/98 and then 7th in 99/00. Had all of Barry Hayles, Jason Roberts and Nathan Ellington as prolific strikers in that era.
Then got relegated the next season and would’ve gone down to non league the season after if they’d had two relegated in those times but I guess the expectation from their fanbase was Sir Ray would have them challenging up neat the top.
Similar to Clarke and Flynn here.
And Jamie Cureton.
Forgot him, played for another 25 clubs after leaving them in 1999 pretty much.
Think Barry Hayles was still playing well into his 40s, he had some good years in the prem with Fulham.
Just watching the milwall stoke game… seeing Lowe getting ass splinters just annoys me.
Robins is a
With Lowe we could have buried this league.
