Forward Options

Looking at the forwards available who would be the starting 2 and who will miss out of the squad all together. i would go for Jamma and Harrison with Levi and Wheatley on the bench:

which would mean DJ and Flash missing out

No, DJ is our only natural finisher and should be in the match day squad. My pecking order would be: Jamma, Harrison, DJ, Levi, Wheatley and Gordon. I’d send Gordon out on loan to Rushall or similar.

I’m sure Man utd would only send Wheately to us if he was going play,

Let’s send him back then as he’s not good enough yet, that’s clear.

Maybe playing next to Jamma will help his progress, but i agree he hasn’t shown anything in the games he has played.

Matt and Harrison to start

Wheatley, Levi and Johnson on the bench

3 strikers on the bench? Wouldn’t leave much room for the multitude of spare midfielders and defenders we have to choose from now.

No way DJ goes from scoring twice to suddenly not even making the bench (unless a loan move to the National league is close). He more than did his job last weekend.

What needs to be remembered now is there are seven subs so you can name three forwards and still have cover for defence and midfield.

Way round that is to have Albert on there as RWB cover and the Charlton kid misses out again.

I think tomorrow we’ll see Matt and Wheatley and then on bench DJ, Gordon, Harrison and Adomah.

Amantchi probably comes back into the fold if/when DJ leaves before March deadline.

I think he was a signing just in case Harrison or someone else didn’t come in so at least another targetman option to cover Matt. Guy has played non league most of his career and pretty much a sub at Bromley so he can’t be coming in and demanding starting every week at the top of the table.

I am not a betting man, but I wonder what odds I would get for Sadler starting Matt and Gordon, with Adomah, Harrison and Wheatley on the bench?

Keep him around. Could then get first dibs on him for league 1 next year. Similar to when Sawyers first came in from Feb 2013, didn’t play much but was settling in and then signed the next season.

Yes I meant if United had expectations of him playing , he should be made to earn the shirt Like the rest.

Flash has come back from nearly five months out to quickly starting games again so I really don’t think Sadler is going to do that, he rates him higher than majority of us.

Short term Amantchi to miss out and he’ll then take over DJ’s place on the bench if he leaves before the end of the season when hopefully promotion is all but done.

I’d give him a game or two alongside Matt as that was clearly the plan, him learning from an experienced targetman having a fabulous Indian Summer finish to his career rather than Gordon or Adomah.

If he dosen’t do much in the next two games against bottom half then he goes to the bench.

That is an understatement.

Sadler brought Gordon to the club on loan last January, started him in every match from then on, often preferring him to Faal, DJ, DJT and Oteh; gave him a two-year contract at the start of this season, and picked him ahead of Lowe before his injury. He really rates him.

But then if he doesn’t make the squad and Matt was to get injured, we’d have no target man type striker.

Gordon, Johnson and Wheatley can’t play that role and it’s shown in the last 3 games that we need one on the pitch at all times.

We have done that previously (when we’ve been down to bare bones) just to fill the bench, but highly unlikely that all 3 are brought on so at least 1 place wasted. And given that 1 of the remaining 4 will be a back-up keeper, that would leave only 3 places for all the other subs - cover for the back 3, 2 WBs, and the 3 in midfield. 3 subs to cover 2 forward spots but only 3 to cover the remaining 8 outfielders? I don’t think so, especially when we’ve got a truckload of options available now.

Not just injured - there haven’t been many matches that Jamma has played the full 90 so having a like-for-like on the bench (getting minutes every game) would make sense.

I think it’s more the fact that he hasn’t yet made the adjustment to playing Mens L2 football rather than PL2 rather than him not being good enough mate

According to a mate of mine who’s a MU STH, he’s well thought of up there and does very well at the PL2 level but he needs proper 1st team games as part of his next development phase…

I’m sure that given a few games, he’ll look much more comfortable at L2 level…

Harrison.

I think the long term plan is surely Harrison to sign permanently given he’s relatively proven in league one and then Amantchi becomes the understudy.

Short term though it will be Matt and Harrison alternating. Not sure how well they’ll work together.
