Gillingham (H) Tuesday 11th Feb, 7.45pm

We’ve got to hope that Williams is over his illness.

Must win game. No excuses for this one.

2-0 to us

4-0 Saddlers. Back on it and all is good.

Last four games we’ve looked shot.
All of the patterns of play that worked well have gone.

Maybe some heads have been turned as they are only young or a lot of new faces disrupting the camp who knows but something fundamental has happened.

Gillingham will never have an easier chance to get the win and I’d take the point now.

I hope Weir gets to start, like Allen, he’s also got a powerful left foot and will be a useful wing back.
We have to get back to winning ways because no Walsall fan wants to see the big slide (what a nightmare that would be).
I believe this is our game in hand, yes, it’s vital we get the three points.

We don’t really have a game in hand now, only on Doncaster. Wimbledon have a game in hand on us.

This is a must must win!

Couldn’t be another 4-2 could it? Lump on!

I think we need a freshen up, especially after playing on Saturday.

We really need to win this.

McEntee Williams Weir

Asiimwe Jellis Chang Lakin Gordon

Matt Harrison

What is the point of signing this Chang if he is not here to play? Stirk and Barrett look like they could do with a rest for a game, and we bring in some fresh legs and ideas.

I was very disappointed at least one of the new midfielders didn’t even make the matchday squad. We needed more options in midfield, if they aren’t good enough, why have we signed them?

The club made a big thing of 7 new signings during the window, but based on Saturday’s selection, only 2 were seen as good enough to make the matchday squad.

I’m not buying all this nonsense about all players will be needed, that may be right but we needed quality options, not players to fill in gaps.

Maybe it is just the run we are on and the concern this is slipping away that is clouding my thoughts.

Regards the new midfielders, maybe they’re not back to full fitness, think they’ve both had longish lay offs? Or not fully with it on the system we play, and just need a few more training sesions?

Possibly, but we are talking asking them to play 20 minutes, half an hour at the most, if needed. We don’t have time to get players up to match fitness, there is only 17 games left.

First and foremost we need to start keeping clean sheets again. Yesterday was the 8th game on the bounce conceding at least 1 goal. We won’t win games keep conceding goals like we are now

We are conceding 2 a game at least now. Which is why I am so concerned, and think it is more than just a bit of bump in the road. You aren’t going to win many games if you have to score 3.

I hope we can get a win Tuesday and I will be back to thinking all will be okay.

You sound as fed up as I do!
Walsall 1 don’t seem bothered, but it’ll hit him harder if we miss out on promotion. At least we’re prepared for the worst!!

This is my concern, it is just the way we have dropped off. There is a fine line between a dip in form and a slump.
Currently we are as shadow of what we were 5 games ago.
I haven’t felt as low after a game as I did yesterday for a while.
Lets hope we get something positive on Tuesday, I can’t go either which I am not sure is good or bad at the minute, suppose it won’t worry me too much if we win.

Not bothered? I am bothered all right but I am not in despair . We are well clear of 4th place even after this poor run. I expect the poor run to end as I expected the good run to end but it is all to play for over the next 17 games .

For me this is the first of seven games that we need to focus on winning to get promotion. The others being Morecombe (a), Cheltenham (a), Carlise (a), Grimsby (h), Harrogate (h) and Accrington (h). Any points picked up from other games are a bonus in my view.

Get a couple of wins back under our belts and all that has happened over the past couple of weeks will be forgotten. Struggle over the next two home games, and we have a major problem. :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

People see things in different ways, I have no problem with that. I was really convinced there was no way we could balls this up, but now I am starting to have doubts. 1-0 up yesterday with 20 odd minutes left, we’d have either saw that game out or gone on and got another not so long back.

All is far from lost, a good run now over the next 5 games and we could be almost there, but it just feels bad right now. A lot of pressure on us to get results in our next two games, because our away form has dropped off a cliff.

To state the bleeding obvious; this is a must win game.
Most teams experience a dodgy run of form during the season & we’re experiencing ours now.
Think we’ll stop the rot against the Gills, just!
I’m going for a nervy 2-1 to Sadler’s men…
