He has definitely watched a different game of football to me tonight
We keep giving ourselves a mountain to climb by conceding goals. That’s 9 games on the run now we’ve not had a clean sheet. Really worrying. If we bottle this, i couldn’t forgive them.
I mean… I get being upbeat in interviews… but that was mental.
Only one team looking to win the game, errr Matt, they had 3 shots on target we had 2
Sadler is feeling the heat - you can see it in his face , the way he’s talking and in his decisions .
He needs to go for a pint / game of golf / snooker / whatever with a wise head like ROK or Waddock , think clearly and freshen things up .
You have options - use them . Some of these young lads in their first season are shot - they need a break
I didnt say it was a good thing. I just commented that Sadler presumably decided he wanted work rate and battling instead of quality. It didnt work and resulted in a very poor performance
The left side balance with Liam Gordon was already disrupted by losing Allen and playing Weir. Inexplicably compounded by playing McCentee and pushing Jellis to the left.
Barret is struggling already and the McCentee selection took away the right sided partnership with Jellis that has looked so good for most of the season.
Add to that playing Gordon up front. Sadler made a cowardly selection tonight desperate not to lose and scrape a 1 nil.
Very disappointing result especially being at home to a very poor Gillingham team but I think its important we dont let our frustrations and anger spill onto the pitch.
The lads have earned our backing until the final whistle at Crewe. Im worried but confident we can turn things around and achieve our main aim and get out this league. But i think we will have to drag ourselves over the line.
I do think we need to freshen things up Barratt, Dave and Gordon all need to a spell out of the team.
Probably the first time this season I’ve disagreed with what Sadler has said in his interviews.
“Only one team that looked like winning” isn’t what i saw. Yes we had chances to win it, but they certainly did too, especially in the last 15 minutes where our back five were all over the place positionly and were constantly giving the ball away very, very easily.
The only thing positive with that first half was when the whistle was blown and it was over. Positive my arse Mat. For all the good things you’ve done right this season, and there’s been plenty. Just admit when it’s been crap
I feel the Josh Gordon pile on is a little harsh. It’s not like we all of a sudden gained Real Madrid’s attacking super powers when he went off.
I’m baffled as to why Lakin didn’t start or even get on. I thought he has our best player against Colchester United and always provides great balance with Stirk slightly deeper and Jellis to the right of the midfield three.
Totally agree - if there was no intention to use Lakin - and by the looks of it - a 1-1 draw scraped by the skin of our teeth with all the midfield blowing - why was he in the squad.
It just defies logic, just like bringing in 2 strikers then preferring Gordon up top. Just completely at a loss with his thinking
I think it’s because he offers so little - not just in terms of goals, but in other areas - yet DJ can’t get a start for love nor money.
Then to be gaslit by Sadler saying he was excellent off the ball. I mean, come off it. He was jogging around, didn’t run any channels, didn’t stretch the defence. Nothing.
I’m not trying to be part of a pile on - but when one player is so clearly off the pace and quality we need, it has to be called out IMO
Quite, but there was a greater sense that we might score without him than when he was on the pitch. I mean it’s not like we don’t know what to expect having seen it 155 times.
You sure he was referring to us?
Just seen Sadz post match, i dont massively disagree with him. BUT it was disjointed from the start. We should have taken Barrat off as his form is at the bottom of the cliff now and some fresh legs and invention.
Harrison and Matt would have been a much better call - lakin instead of osh too. DJ got close and he was on for 10mins.
Like i said earlier, we’m lucky to have a point in the end. They could have had another 2.
We go again. Still 7 points clear. I BELIEVE!
We dropped 2 points because we were hit with a "worldy "goal but in the build up to that goal Simkin should have come and collected the ball from Okagbue and then the goal would not have happened .Inexperience cost us and is costing us more and more as the season goes on. Daniels and Farguarharson , Earing and Hall are big misses in this situation.
I referred to the youth of our team in a post a few days ago and it is clear they are feeling the pressure. Not one of the 3 centre backs has had a full season of league football whilst most teams in the division have good experience at the back. In addition to this our midfield which didn’t function at all tonight is youthful and needs fresh legs as they are clearly mentally if not physically tired.
I would not have started with Gordon tonight or McEntee and the two young midfielders would have been on the bench. Harrison is a good player at this level and must start on Saturday in my view.
The boos at the end were unjustified as not one player in this team is not trying but MS needs to give them some help by resting one or two and trying to calm them down . Anxiety was a player for us tonight.
Who’s he on loan from?
Just thawed out.
Agree with a lot of the above comments.
Strange starting line up, especially Josh.
Some of our players look like they have run out of gas.
Barrett needs a break.
Why didn’t Lakin come on?
Harrison looks a decent signing
Could have won it but more likely we could have lost it.
Last 20 minutes we seemed to be chasing shadows.
Nailed it mate
