Gillingham tickets

It’s true in the sense that it happened. No idea if it’s true in the sense that what he said was factually correct.

It’s becoming clear that there was never any intention of rearranging this game!
Coleman the Gill’s manager said yesterday that this was their next game, and all his efforts would be going into getting wins at home, something his team has struggled to do all season!
Hornby playing last Thursday was another indication.
It would have been very unpopular with fans who travel to away games to leave any decision to call it off this late. So I think Sadler has been aware of it for some time. I just hope we steer clear of injuries in training before next weekend!

I think this is the right decision and I will stick to that even if we lose. It would be daft to have such a long break between games and then have to cram them in.

The biggest loss for me is Gordon, followed by Barrett then Simkin. A back 3 of McEntee, Williams and Weir is fine, with Allen at at LWB. There is Rico Browne too. I do not know who will be RWB; Asiimwe is my best guess - why did we sign him if not for this type of situation?

I hope Hornby can be a bit more confident than on Thursday.

Didn’t someone report that Rico Browne had been loaned out? Can’t find anything but I did notice that he doesn’t appear in the “team” tab on the official website

Latest I saw was that he was being considered for a loan. I would guess that could happen after next Saturday. I was impressed with him in the Vertue trophy games so he could play RWB with Asimwee at LWB. It is clear we lots of decent options even with the 4 regulars missing.

And probably at half time if we go in at nil nil or a goal down. If the Bromley thread is anything to go by.

Nothing official, but just rumours. It would help if Ben could confirm if Browne’s still at the club and under contract.

I don’t think it is great. It’s okay saying we have options, options that haven’t been deemed good enough by Sadler.

That being said, I reckon it was a difficult decision for the club, and they have probably made the right one, just about. Risking one game rather than playing 4 in a week.

We can still win the game.

I’d imagine he is still under contract for next season. We paid a fee for him, didn’t we?

Agree and I think that’s a testament to the performances of recent games in many respects.

Will be Adomah at RWB imo, he’ll want some experience there if it is Weir the other side.

The attacking options will be thin for this if Harrison isn’t available.

Makes no sense in calling them off earlier in the season now as we had a much stronger squad then with Hall and Earing and Cleary players being fresher and fitter

Could be Weir LWB and Allen LCB, but I’d bet on it being the other way round.

If Albert starts at RWB, I think Asiimwe replaces him after 60-70 minutes. If Albert is initially on the bench, he could replace either Asiimwe or one of the forwards so gives more options for MS.

I’ve seen him at the club in the last week or so. He also appeared on a club video in the week.

So 6 call ups, 6 injured ( if Harrison injured ), and 1 suspension and we are playing, I’ll say it again why call them off earlier in the season makes no sense now in that context

Im debating whether to go… long ol jaunt for a loss/ draw

'phoned the ticket office this morning and got 2 tickets. Usual excellent service and friendly staff. They’re posting the tickets out first class - looking forward to my visit to Kent on the weekend UTS.

Both full backs out, keeper out, centre half out … wtf are we doing :man_facepalming:

Huge gamble this.

I think it is just lesser of two evils given the constraints around trying to rearrange it. If we had loaded the fixture list anymore and picked up injuries we would all have wondered why we didn`t take the chance this weekend.
Hope it pays off.

At least 1 WB that lots of people have been saying needs to be rested anyway, and are clamouring to see more of their natural replacement(s).

Ditto GK, and CB (there has been a lot of call to see more of Weir, and for Dave to be replaced by McEntee alongside Williams - here’s your chance).

The gamble is the cover for these positions on the bench is going to be very thin so if there are any issues, or MS wants to shake things up and do his usual of pushing defenders into midfield/up front, we won’t have many options.

Midfield we do have more leeway - and hopefully get to see something of Chang. Forward line - we are still waiting for news on Harrison and DJ.

So I’m pretty sure the starting XI will be solid enough and not raise too many alarms, it’s who will be on the bench to come on and change things if needed?
