Yes, I loved watching Adam beaver away in midfield.

Colin Methven must have been getting on a bit, or at least he looked as if he was.

At 35 he looked like a retired deputy headteacher.

He was. And so was Steve Claridge when we signed him on a short term deal .

Not exactly golden. The bloke was garbage.

Which reminds me of Staunton. Absolute pish. Ireland fa did us a favour

Goodman was a great oldie. Remember him on his debut. Scored a lovely header if I remember.

It’s the age they were mate not stones when they left the club :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Interestingly, the oldest 15 players for us played in this century. Better levels of fitness perhaps.

Don’t oldies tend to be silver, if anything at all?

I agree that is probably true, better diet, applied sports science etc. Also many players drank and smoked back in the day, Jimmy Greaves comes to mind but there were many more. Then of course there was Stanley Matthews…would’ve taken him at 40…

Great centre back!! He was running a B&B in Blackpool last I heard, which is where he signed for us from as a player.
