Is 5,000 our glass ceiling?

Interesting to hear that. Presumably West Mids based Southampton fans rather than taken a massive detour!!

I thought that, the Cov fan was so impressed with us he’s considering a season ticket next season. He really doesn’t rate Lampard

Yep noticed this. Bbc and sky reporting the lower figure. Im pretty sure though the Tannoy announcement was for the lower figure. The gate looked about 5600 to me.

York are currently pulling in bigger crowds than us.

So many clubs seem able to add thousands to their gates quickly. I don’t know why we can’t

Let’s face it, given our form, location and general upturn in attendances since covid, our average is poor.

We’re only up about 100 on last season’s figure currently. Something for Trivela to figure out!

This is my only negative this season.
Would love to know whats keeping people away. This teams deserves much better
Hopefully the club can find a way to get more in, because the team are certainly doing it

He did announce 5,1XX which I thought at the time was on the low side.

He corrected it at the end after the final whistle so I think 5,614 was correct

That figure looked right to me on looking around. On the main point of this thread. It will take time for our attendances to rise. I think they will but I doubt they will get much higher than 7,500 which is around the figure we were getting in the Championship when we were there. That should be enough for us to have a sustained run in League 1 but something dramatic needs to happen for us to get more than that. If we did an Ipswich and got promoted 2 seasons running that might do the trick but that is a very long shot.

Just for a bit of balance the attendance when we played Tranmere in December 2023 was 5,190 with 717 Tranmere fans (so 4,473 saddlers)

Today the attendance was 5,614 with 336 Tranmere fans (so5,278 saddlers)

So that’s an 800 increase in 12 months which isn’t bad but could be better.

Let’s see how many turn up next week when the weathers a bit better and it’s not on telly

I was chatting to some Worcester City fans who reckoned they would be able to get to Rushall for 3pm to see them play Scunthorpe. Given the traffic I don’t think you could unless you left early or arrived late.

Now Ben Sadler and others are settled in position and have a good grasp of the club I do expect innovative changes moving forward in respect of ticketing.

Every time I hear the phrase ‘early bird season tickets’ straight away I think of Bonser, Mole & Gamble and ‘paint the stand red’ memes. Thats just how marketing works, I guess! An overhaul is still required, and that is no critisism, these people have not been in post long enough yet. We need to improve walk up also, this still can be a totally uncessarily complex process and has been for a very long time

Time and again over the years we have totally missed our chance when building momentum to capitalise on on-field success. Why? Because we had a bog handle manufacturing owner employing school teachers and admin staff in fundamentally important roles for growth. Trivela are a different animal. If we had them during our Championship years I would bet we wouldnt be far off 5 figure gates to this day.

In Boycott , Sadler and Sadler we trust . Sounds like a dodgy solicitors but have a lot of faith in all 3 . Young , energetic and earnest vibes .

Compare to Bonser, Whalley and Mole . Who had tired , smelly and dodgy vibes .

As I posted a bit further up, the club made one of its few mis-steps with this season’s price points.

Whatever league we’re in next season a freeze should be the minimum expectation though I’d prefer a decrease.

Mrs T and my son’s girlfriend came today. £55 that cost me despite buying in advance.

If Trivela are serious about the community stuff they propagate then they need to understand that attending the town’s football club is out of reach for far too many. If we are to re-establish ourselves as a third tier club then we’re around 3,000 short. That’s their biggest challenge.

That said, they’ve improved the matchday experience no end and the team on and off the pitch is really knocking it out of the park. I really hope that enough people can dig deep enough to get over 7,000 through the gate next week. After that, I hope we see a load of offers to try to fill the place.

I would hope for at least a thousand more than that.

How many will MK bring? 600-700 or so.

Our average attendances for the past three seasons, post Covid were:
21/22 5131
22/23 5540
23/24 5618

So far this season we are averaging 5721.

I would say that the small increase in average attendance does not reflect the different quality of entertainment on offer this season. My guess is that the price increases have led to many fans deciding that they can no longer afford to attend.

New Sky deal as well

The Sky deal affects all the clubs. We are top of the table by a distance, but our home attendances are 13th highest out of 24.

We often played very badly during the previous three seasons and were 14th, 10th and 13th in the attendance league.

There must be a reason why we have not improved our attendances this season relative to other clubs. I believe that it was Trivela’s decision to increase ticket prices, at a time when many of our supporters were not doing well financially. But perhaps there are other, better reasons?

I have a few ideas, bit of an essay but tell me what you think!

Open up season ticket renewal now and at frozen price to this year and as a loyalty bonus 50% off membership.

Open early bird at the end of Feb with a friend/ family referral incentive which reduces the ticket price when you have other season ticket sales linked to your booking account

  • 1 £50
  • 2 £70
  • 3 £100
  • 4 £150
Also alongside the season ticket is the friend for a fiver incentive built into your ST for 3 games of your choice.

Continue with flexi-tickets but enhance them to include Family-Flexi where you can buy 2 adults 2 children at a discount - or the discount increases depending on how many people you bring - the rational for this is large family’s could be put off from a season ticket commitment but want to go as a group.

Family tickets in general - as mentioned by PT and others it’s a large outlay when added up together.

Family stand and Poundland upper reduction in price when booked in advance if you have a membership, broken down as
14 days - 20% off
7 days - 10% off
2 days - 5% off

I would also include QR codes seats or around the ground (maybe beyond the stadium ie University, College, Pubs) which allow people to be directed immediately to the ticket site online…

Loyalty card / points linked to membership or ticket account which can be cashed in for free tickets or money off season tickets / Flexi tickets. This could include away game loyalty too.
5 games - next game half price
10 games - two friends for a fiver tickets and one free ticket.
15 games - next 2 games half price.

Send batches of tickets to Popular pubs around the borough for blocks of seating which rarely get fans in. This could entice the casual supporter or neutral - which could inturn convert them.
