No, but I seem to recall around December time a lot of folk on a particular match thread were asking me what I thought of us having Kinsella in the side and being top 7 material.
I hate to say I told (some of) you so….
But I told you so. ![]()

Very highly rated by some prominent members of our supporter base, I think he is fine as a squad player and backup but I’d be concerned if he’s a starter come August.
Ah, so you’re confusing people having a different people opinion to you as goading. You’d never do that though, suggest people need to ‘wake up’ or claim that you’re just fishing for reactions
. Glass houses.
Oh no, I couldn’t care less mate (about the goading). I’m just pointing out that some of us were, unfortunately, right on that issue and I find is somewhat cathartic.
He needs to be released, as do (as I said last night) a lot of others like Williams, all the loanees, Allen, Monthe, White, etc etc.
So there was no goading, at least none more than you’d done yourself. Great to have that cleared up.
In your opinion, which isn’t fact, just opinion.
I said we wouldn’t be a top 7 side with Liam Kinsella starting every week.
Factually correct, no?
That’s like me saying we wouldn’t be a top seven side with Hutch in the team. It’s factually correct, but only if you ignore 100 foot of context.
Exactly if we’re using that theory Hutchinson also needs to go ![]()
Apologies to everyone as I sound like a broken record but Flynn ain’t our messiah, he is a very limited guy in terms of tactical awareness and more importantly cannot identify players with enough ability/creativity to challenge this god awful league. His teams are ultra booooring and tedious to watch, as I’ve always said he has a fear of losing rather than a desire to win !!!. As others have said our decline continues because of the stale environment that has existed for many years within the boardroom and still does. We have negative non football people making the important decisions within our club so it’s no wonder we constantly tread water just about keeping our chin above the water line. We need the Canadian yanks to throw us a lifeline and sort these dusty suits out before we reinact the titanic, but am I being too harsh ? after all we are told what a sterling job Mole is doing with the womens team ffs. In summary get rid of Flynn and the stiffs upstairs and give the the long suffering fans some bloody hope.
Woke up this morning…no, this isn’t the opening line of a classic blues number…and I still can’t get the thought of that performance out of my head.
On Kinsella, always liked him but he’s not looked the same player since coming back from injury. The fact it’s taken this long to be ‘proven right’ I think shows that.
Time to stop shoehorning him into the team, we need more from our midfield than to run around chasing the ball with no positional sense as he has done recently.
That was up there with our worst performance of the season. Best just to forget and move on, I reckon. Only Daniels, Monthe and Evans turned up.
He isn’t only a poor footballer
But his behaviour … is erratic steams in to any hand bags. Can’t wait to goad opposition fans. This from a grown up. Not a teenager.
Good to see your all over this with lashings of self-congrats and catharsis.
Us not threatening top 7 saves you the bother of announcing a two week break from the thread, and muting everyone that thinks Liam Kinsella is actually a very good servant to Walsall FC and far from the root of all its ills…well done ![]()
How is that fault of an effective, professional and loyal servant of the club? Rather than the literal stream of half-arsed, vacillating dross that has taken a wage over recent years?
Eventually, and at the end of a long and dedicated term of service, eventually you will be correct and Kinsella will no longer be at a level suitable for the club at this level.
But to proffer your highly personal and subjective opinion as some kind of inalienable ‘truth’ and to somehow confect a narrative that any one individual, let alone a regular player, is the root cause of Walsall’s stagnation is beyond bizarre.
Rather than a moment in the sun, I’d say you may have been out in it too long.
Also ‘goading’

It’s quite simple mate, he’s not good enough if we are serious about getting out of this division.
I have also never said at any point that he is the root cause. You’ll have to direct me to where I said that.
We need to move on.
A lot of understandably emotional comment after such a poor display and such a poor run of results.
But we can’t keep chopping and changing managers. Flynn is capable of at least being in and around the play offs. We have to give him time.
But, at the same time, management should be very clear as to his plan for both on field play and the footballing structure of the club going forward.
First and foremost, i wish he’d go back to what was working well. White, Daniels, Monthe is the centre back line up we need and they have proved that with their defensive record this season. Kinsella and Comley doesn’t work. Maddox makes a difference. Up front, Williams is all effort but little to no end product. Build for next season from a base of RWB - White - Daniels - Monthe - Gordon and get the midfield and strikers sorted and we won’t be far off.
The squad can accommodate a player like Kinsella who is no doubt limited but extremely professional and committed. Rather than signing players on loan like Songo’o.
I’m not sure how much Kinsella would have played if Earing hadn’t kept getting injured and Comley had performed how he has been over recent weeks. Plus I think Riley was meant to be part of the midfield.
Indeed.
