L 5-0 vs Milton Keynes Dons (A) - League Two - Fri 29th March, 3pm

It was a decent dummy when he tried to clear the ball and missed it completely for their 5th too.

I’m not gonna pick out any individuals though, it was just poor all round.

To be fair, they weren’t passing to each other for the 75 minutes before DJ came on

Left after the 4th goal before DJ got on . We really don’t know what is happening with DJ but if I was him I would maybe feel a bit of an outcast and not feel part of the team with the little opportunity he has been given considering his obvious goalscoring ability.

Not saying they couldn’t have passed it simpler or better but hitting the channels is more of an instruction or tactical decision though, surely?

That should have brought a goal had Faal scored his second chance after being played clean through by a 40 yard ball from Allen’s “sweet left foot”

I spoke to an mk fan before the game and he said while they are decent going forward they are very poor at the back but after faals two early chances we never threatened them, just invited them onto us and showed them far too much respect.
No reason for saddler to mess with the backline, theyve been excellent since he stumbled on the youngsters due to injuries and id have kept foulkes at rwb, he doesnt go past people like knowles but his final ball is far better. I dont subscribe to the opinion that the captain plays regardless, if your performing you keep the shirt. Heaven knows what todays done to the youngsters confidence
If earing is injured thats unfortunate because he has been the catalist for our change in fortunes but stirk is not a replacement for earing, we sit far too deep with comley and stirk in midfield.
The one area that needed a change was up front, faal in particular has missed some sitters in recent weeks and if he and josh had put them away today would not have mattered so much, but if you have to play your captain why on earth can dj not get a game when hes probably the highest earner at the club.
I honestly believe sadler was 1 or 2 games from the sack just before xmas but earing coming back meant we had more quality higher up the pitch, then the run of 5 wins with the youngsters at the back has made his job safe but im realy not convinced by him.

To bring DJ on when 5-0 down is another display of how little respect he has for him and you could argue the supporters

It was at 4-0 DJ came on

Not sure if it’s instruction or lack of confidence or just limited ability….

It’s not that he can’t hit that pass or that it resulted in a chance for Faal….its the decision making to be doing that even when no one is there apart from their GK….

We miss so many opportunities to retain possession and build or redirect attacks. It’s been the same all season even when we’ve won games…it’s consistently been my biggest bugbear

I left when it was 4-0 so didn’t see him come on . What’s the difference anyway 4 or 5 . He’s not being given an opportunity. Which is wrong .The game was already over.

Experimenting with personnel in different positions and bringing Daniels straight back in was extremely naive of Sadler, against a side looking for a big reaction after being battered by Stockport and having some very talented technical players. I thought Stirk was dire as well personally but most were. I am sure DJs agent is busy enough regarding him right now.

Anyone got the link from bbc wm

That’s down to the coaching and management unfortunately.

Or the availability of first choice players

Do you mean like…DJ?!!

And what was the point in signing Faal if he’s going to be unfit to play 90 minutes for a month? Sadler should start with Josh Gordon and DJ. Gordon can do DJ’s running and DJ can do Gordon’s finishing!!

There’s not much excuse now. He was at his best in a 352 which are now steadfast in playing after trying 1 up top a few months ago. He also likes the ball over the top which is what we play. Hes even got 2 big men options to play off.

If he isnt starting for fitness then he should still be getting more minutes. Its not like anyone is really “keeping him out the side” on form either.

So the reason we haven’t kept the ball much all season is because… first choice players are out?

Your defence of Sadler is admirable.

I would say, that it’s clear to anyone looking in, and I am sure it’s 100000% clear to you / that the reason…

Is because the team is coached not to play that way - we don’t look to retain possession and play through; and we don’t build play. We haven’t all season.

Are you seriously telling me the reason we haven’t done it ‘all season’ is nothing to do with the manager of the club?

Come on now :joy:

Sorry I might get some stick for this . But should a professional footballer really be fasting when his job is to be fit and mentally strong and have stamina and strength and be alert. ???

I just wouldn’t play him; and I wouldn’t sign him next season if he’s going to be a liability for a month of the season.

It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Saying that… I’m fairly sure a lot of other players fast and it isn’t a problem.

It’s clearly a Sadler strategy to not retain the ball, we’ve done it all season.
