It got me thinking about how poor this league really is.
I recall us being bottom half of Division 4 in the early 90’s. We had a poor side but the league was strong. If memory serves me correctly there were some big clubs down there - Cardiff, Burnley, Fulham, Preston North End etc. There were some really good sides as well. Lesser clubs like Crewe Alexandra, Blackpool, Rotherham United and Saturdays opponents, Carlisle United always had good sides.
Look at some of the teams in our division this season - Newport Country, Forest Green Rovers, Crawley Town, Morecambe. All with small fan bases, all with micro budgets - all currently above us in the league!
This really is an awful league!
