Liam Gordon Joins Port Vale

Very good post :+1: Perspective beyond our epic 4 month failure is important

I think all of Walsall Football Clubs recent success can be largely attributed to the fact other clubs only seem to buy our worst players and ones that only play well 1 in 10…..leaving us with all our consistently good ones…I mean imagine the outrage if clubs started nicking our best and most consistent players!!

We only had one consistent player on our books last season and as of yet no one has taken him. I suspect they will though.

Anymore…

Jealous, heinous, deformed?

Angry, sore, cynical?

Resentful, vicious, horid?

Me too mate it’s absolutely crippled me inside.I usually get the new shirt haven’t bothered I am usually looking everyday to see if there’s any transfer news I haven’t bothered and if I could I’d have my season ticket money back which is over 900 quid in total with all 3 of us that go.As you know I drink in the railway(we’ve met the other week) and I know for a fact that fans who travel to Barrow on a Tuesday night then Gillingham away on the Saturday after it aren’t bothering this season because of what’s happened. It’s literally been a biblical collapse that for some reason has been forgotten already by many and I can’t get my head around that.

I kind of get why people are moving on from it. It serves no real purpose to hang on to it and squeeze as much misery out of it as possible.

Unfortunately, I can’t help it. I was one of those that turned up every game home and away, regardless of how good or usually bad we were. Never gave it a second thought, Walsall FC. Last season took me places nothing before had. I can’t even explain it; it affected my health, and that isn’t something that should happen. That’s my fault, but I won’t be doing that again.

I know some people think I am a bit of a moaner, negative, or whatever. They have their feelings, I have mine and I am scarred by what happened and just totally exhausted. I’m not going to say I won’t go anymore, that would just be a lie, but I am taking a far more relaxed approach to it now.

I get both sides, but you can trust me when I say, I feel your pain.

Honest?

I’m not going to wish the bloke well, I’m sorry if that makes me seem bitter. I am still sore at the moment.

I said before, blame the owners, blame Sadler, but these players should have done better anyway. There is not one single player responsible, the whole group are.

After beating Chesterfield, Gordon (and other players) were in the locker singing and dancing like we’d won the league. Completely oblivious to the fact that it was their failure that meant we were even there at all. Some would say it was a big thing for the players getting to Wembley, and I’d agree with that. What a shame they forgot to turn up.

Then he couldn’t wait to jump ship and sign for our rivals. Fair enough, it’s a good opportunity for him but I’m not going to pretend I wish him or any of the others that go well.

Wimbledon went up and have still lost players to Bradford and Wycombe.
Looking at their fans comments it’s very much the same as the range of comments our fans are making about Gordon.

I don’t think people are of that opinion. When you’ve invested more than just money into the season as you have, you’re able to reflect and feel however you want to about it. Some will agree, some won’t.

I watched all our matches, but didn’t attend as many as you, but I still feel like I am within my rights to feel aggrieved, as do many others. For those that have don’t and have moved on quicker, then that is perfectly fine as well.

I haven’t moved on. Another sleepless night and it’s bits and pieces like this move that is a constant reminder. Just how was that effed up?

We are in the shadow of another Walsall FC at the moment, the one that got promoted somehow, anyhow. The shirt, the releases, the new signings, the lost momentum. All that’s in the cold shadow of that Walsall FC.

I normally wear my shirts out and about. They’ll all in a bag at the moment. Stored, not thrown.

The pain is absolutely immense at the moment, another wave will come from the fixtures list. It’s not just the end spell, but the constant nagging disappointments from February building up to the cliff of Wembley.

One of the most unnecessary elements is that Sadler is finished. Everyone knows it. He’ll be gone by October, then the rebuild can begin. This is just lingering aftermath, partly politeness and partly the final residue of hope.

Walsall and England, what a combo.

"All you had to do was draw at home to Accrington. " I just can’t get that statement out of my head.

And yes, I realise I said ā€œyouā€ and not ā€œweā€, which in itself speaks volumes.

Harry Boyes from Sheffield United is the player we should be going all out for on a 3 year deal! This lad would more than replace Liam Gordon.

I felt dejected after the fiasco of last season, it’s also embarrassing. I was over Chasewater last night for a walk and for the first time since Wembley I put on an old Walsall away top. A couple of miles in and a group of possibly twenty or thirty youths came running towards me, I heard one say Walsall hahahaha, another comment was wan***s. I didn’t bother to try and defend the indefensible and just carried on.
Although I still feel a little bit sheepish it is what it is and I can’t change it, only the owners have the power to do that. It’s horrible especially for the young fans. As far as players leaving I’m not bothered someone like Liam Gordon has left or where he’s gone. I don’t expect any player to feel the connection to the club that I have. I’ve seen thousands of players come and go, lots of managers and different owners too.
Having said that I won’t allow Trivela to abuse my loyalty simply because I’ve been going close to seventy years. I expect the Americans to invest in the playing squad with serious investment between now and August and not mismanage January.
What I’m finding more difficult to do is shake off the concern that with Mat Sadler at the helm next season is going to be more boring as hell hoofball and a season of struggle as he runs players into the ground. I hope I’m absolutely miles off the mark, we shall see.

Last season has sucked the joy out of looking forward to next season. I’m probably a stuck record on this, but how can we possibly enjoy any good form with Sadler in charge knowing that he will eff it up at some point.

If we win every game before Chrismas, I still want him gone. I wouldnt trust him if we got a bye to the FA Cup Final and given a three goal head start over Darlington. He would still contrive a way to lose in the last minute.

Its been said on here before… whether youve been to 1 game in 10 years or go home and away, if you choose Walsall as your team you can have an opinion and its valid. Theres 370,000 people in our borough and less than 0.5% are supporters of the towns club. Everyone is welcome.

Same here mate I probably shouldn’t give a crap what others think but I just know that I won’t even be able to wear my shirt from the car park to let’s say home bargains(other stores are available) without a comment it’s that big a deal that all the fans of all the leagues know about it. It’s not just cocooned inside league two it’s spread far and wide and I hope the club who were behind this massive feck up realises this.

Anyway this threads about Liam Gordon I guess so I’ll just shut up and get on with life. The thing is ladies and gents my love of the club and the love of going on a Saturday to socialise and watch the match will eventually shine through the black clouds. It always does and they know that don’t they?

This is the problem the club has now, a lot of fans don’t trust him and never will.

If things start badly he’ll have to go and the new man will be stuck with Sadler’s players.

If he starts well and another club comes in for him, he absolutely has to jump ship. He’d be mad not to because no matter how well he does, there will never be a way back with a lot of fans.

Stay here and you’re sacked (or stuck in a toxic environment) next time there’s a bad spell. Everybody needed a clean slate in my opinion - Sadler’s stock will drop if he ends up getting sacked here so for the sake of his career he needs to get a good start and then get out of here ASAP.

It’s in your blood. Some people just don’t understand why I’m a Walsall fan I can never really explain why other than it was closer by .8 of a mile than Villa my first games were watching Blues with my Aunts ,but after that I went to watch Walsall and it stuck and now here I am nearly 50 years later hurting but still going to endure some more pain for the odd bit of joy

Exactly what I said as soon as we were walking back to the station from Wembley.
We could win every game till January and be sitting on 69 points and fans would still be waiting for the inevitable collapse. We’re going to be on edge for most of the season, even if we spend most of it top again. It’s insane.
