10 is Corinthians then. Cheating buggers, I bet they bribed the ref or something.

Just number 3 left to get.

I would say 3 is the sort of record we might have against Wolves or Middlesbrough, a biggish team that we’ve had fairly even results with and not played that often. Or, a more recent addition to the League, Stevenage or Cheltenham type?
Or creepy Crawley perhaps?

they were never the pride of the black country

Is 3 West Brom? I have seen us beat them 5 times, always seem to be relatively close games. Haven’t checked back to see distant history so just a stab really.

Well done Blazing.

I find it mind boggling weve only played Albion 15 times in our history,

so to summarise

  1. Tottenham Hotspur
  2. Port Vale
  3. West Bromwich Albion
  4. Liverpool
  5. Gillingham
  6. Arsenal
  7. North Shields, Stafford Rangers, Telford United
  8. Chelsea
  9. Shrewsbury
  10. Corinthians

And We have bragging rights over Arsenal, Albion, Port Vale and Shrewsbury.

I can only think of five wins over West Brom, so is the victory over their under 21s in the Mickey Mouse also counting? It was a good game and I enjoyed it but I’m not sure it’s a first team fixture.
Good quiz though, @Andy_Petterson

@Andy_Petterson it was 1927. Here is a picture of workmen putting in additional crush barriers ready for this big game.

I genuinely don’t remember the Football League Trophy win v Albion in 2017. It has completely gone from my mind.

I remember all the others well though. Interestingly Sir Ray claimed 3 of the 6 victories v Albion and his last game as our manager was a defeat v them.

I suppose the Albion players would all be 21 to 23 now. I don’t know how many have gone on to have decent careers in the game, although I know Max Melbourne played that night, someone mentioned it when he played for us.
I know many of the shirt numbers were in the 50s and 60s so they were way off the first team squad, which is generally the case for that competition.

@BromsgroveSaddler Yes 3-1 win v WBA in the Micky Mouse Cup. Flanagan, Ismail and Leahy. Att 1055 (98)

There’s a very good documentary on ITV Hub (ITV X?) about the current Corinthians team. Well worth a watch.
