Gordon forced him to take a second touch and fluff it though. Wouldn’t have happened other wise. Forcing the situation.
Josh is a much better striker than some on here would have you believe.
In a team high on confidence, he can make a BIG contribution between now and the end of the season.
When everyone is running their socks off, you’re not having to do the job of other players. This is a team who relish hard work and I think it would be a joy to play in (as long as you are really fit!).
Anyone who isnt holding a grudge over a previous relegation can see that. Will be like a new signing in the coming months if he can stay fit.
A fantastic post.
Hopefully, he will hit peak Barrow form from now on. I would be pleased for him if he did. Remember, he was injured celebrating his goal for us.
I think Josh Gordon has a big part to play for us still. He was on form before his injury and has looked decent the bits hes played since coming back
If you’d never have seen us play and judged us by a select few oppo managers’ comments you might have the impression we are a team of giant cloggers relying on set pieces to get goals.
Missing all the points @philthesaddler made in his excellent set of observations.
As for being a “big team”, I take it they’re overlooking our team includes Lakin, Stirk, Jellis, Barrett and both Gordons.
It’s convenient for oppo managers to use these obvious tactics to divert criticism of why they simply can’t deal with our second half dominance in games
It’s happened so many times this season and whilst I don’t wanna tempt fate for future games, we are obviously better at what we do than they are because no one is able to deal with us
Sorry - what I’ve typed there is a bit obvious given our position but it’s surprising they keep saying the same crap after their teams get battered…
Its just nonsense.
We can play it about, even if we go a bit old school and play off the strikers firstly. Infact sometimes they look shocked with our quick passing after a knock down. Liam Gordon thinks its great he loves picking it up.
Modern football for ya. too many “coaches” Crying about the fact they cant keep the ball and control the pace of the game.
Their main tactic yesterday was to drop the ball in behind Big Dave. They had obviously identified this as a weakness, I mentioned it about Dave last week, it is a bit of a weakness of his, but he did alright as the game went on to be fair.
Second half a 35 year old and a 37 year old pressed the life out of their play out from the back, and if they got past them, the next line was waiting. Sadler is genuinely outsmarting a lot of far more experienced managers this season.
To be fair the whole line was really high first half, the ball in behind was on all the time, even if the goal was questionably offside.
Williams not blessed with pace either but they all got caught out for the goal. Little adjustment second half. Happy days. Thats all you can ask for, mistakes happen.
I’m not sure about the goal, my oldest lad was so angry about it I said to him, you can’t really tell from where we sit, and I haven’t seen a better angle since to decide. I get the feeling Williams played him on but to be fair the linesman wasn’t up with play so I doubt he knew either really which is why he didn’t give it.
Linesmen/women make me more angry than refs. They are so bad. You watch next game how many times in a match they wait for the ref to make the decision for a simple throw-in decision, they haven’t got a clue half the time.
I think it was tight and Hogan got the call. Perhaps winning means ill let them off.
Still better than VAR.
Dont get me started on the refs at this level…
Noticed this, but felt as the game wore on the lump down the left became one of their only out-balls given the intensity of the press.
Think we knew MK could hurt us on the ball in the upper thirds so penned them back with what has to be the most aggressive press we’ve used this season.
We were level with it in the family stand and it looked miles off to us. It happened again a few minutes later, the identical situation, again no offside given. The lino was dreadful.
Fair enough, you would have a good position to see. When you are behind the goal it is almost impossible to know from our position, it looked offside but you can’t really know. The position of the linesman wasn’t good at all though.
It was a good finish to be fair, he still had a fair bit to do, luckily it wasn’t match deciding.
I was so angry that I thought about going down to ask the lino if he needed glasses but thought better of it.
Understand we can say he did well but arguably, we could have done better to prevent him from getting the angle for the shot - there were 3 players around him at the point he managed to get the shot off…
I thought Williams should have done a bit better, but you know, players make mistakes and these players are playing at such a high standard for us, I don’t really want to criticise.
Steady on
It looked well offside to me but I didn’t have as good a view as you.
