I completely agree, great post.
However I’d argue we’re seeing top of of league performances and yet we remain with a mid table gate.

Seeing Lowe return to his parent club has definitely unsettled me and I think just seeing that nothing has changed in performances will make me feel a whole lot easier. That’s not to say I’m expecting a disaster but Lowe is a huge loss.
You misunderstood me.
I mean fickle in there attendance not in their attitude, passion or complaints. It’s not an attack on you or anyone else!
There is a percentage of every fan base that attends on occasion but not every week, maybe casual would be a better word.
My hope is this doesn’t put off casual fans or provide them with an excuse to not come to games, we can build on the fan base and maintain a healthy league one position.
I wish others could see the urgency of a couple of signings!
These plans the club refers to need to be in place and not just ideas. I noticed we’ve approached C.Palace about taking an 18 year old striker on loan, who hasn’t played for the first team, nor been out on loan before. That’s not going to be the answer to the loss of our leading scorer.
We must approach this quickly but sensibly.
I’d like to see more of those ticket offers to help the cause - discounted double game packages, juniors free, etc. etc.
Almost £30 per ticket in the Pallet-Track is unaffordable to some whether they’d like to be there or not and regardless of how well the team is performing.
They haven’t done that 6 game flexi ticket they offered last season either have they to my knowledge, I thought that was another good idea last season.
Just noticed that, it’s listed in the membership area but all gone. Guess no one used it.
Well I don’t doubt the club’s intentions but we are in the hands of other clubs . We are an attractive proposition I would have thought for clubs higher up the pyramid to send their players out to learn their trade. Top of the league, quality players all over the pitch, glowing references from the Lowes should in theory make the job of recruiting players relatively easy but we all know nothing in football is that straightforward.
I’d suggest that will get marketed now the half season tickets are done. If they’re doing it.
Makes sense actually, would potentially hinder half ST sales
League Tables do not determine league positions or success.
Why are folks hung up on this.
Thanks Rob.
I still don’t think that is “fickle” or casual to be honest. I have been a season ticket holder for well over half my life and I’m in my 30s, but I haven’t renewed this season. A combination of factors, the price hike, the TV deal, generally preferring to go to away games, life commitments. I now go when all those things align, rather than week in week out. Am I fickle? I’m not making my decision based on the sale of one forward, and it’s certainly not performance based or glory hunting, because the performances are the best they have been for 8 years. I was a season ticket holder for every single one of those baron years.
There’s a multitude of reasons why people may or may not go to a game. We don’t have a casual fan base, to support Walsall FC in almost any form you have to be passionate about it, otherwise you’d just watch Man City or Liverpool on the Telly every week.
You’re right about the crowds. They are edging up though - and if we see the right investment and our form continues they should edge up some more.
I think this confirms he doesn’t mean you. I get his point, maybe it was worded incorrectly. More at those that’ll go ‘same old Walsall, they haven’t changed’ when we definitely have.
This conversation is lost over written text, or I lack the skill to express it well enough! Not to go any further off topic…
No your not a casual fan. And your support is not considered casual either but perhaps your attendance (like mine) is sporadic if your not going every week. It says nothing about you as a supporter, for some people the balance of spending good money on a ticket is based on the factors you mentioned. Mine is Career, Family, Geography. Performance of the team has nothing to do with it, I will happily drive from Devon or Lancashire for a Vertu trophy game if I can satisfy that balance. Lately I’ve been blurring the lines towards coming more than in the past, I am looking forward to next month for example.
My point was I hope the recall of Lowe is not a negative factor in the upwards trajectory of supporters coming to games. Especially for those that are on the fringes of becoming more regular supporters.
I Don’t think our fan base is casual. I think we have people within the town or area who consider themselves Walsall Fans who come and go, it might be 100 or possibly more. That’s what I mean my casual. I’d argue all clubs have some, even Rushall.
I get that, but without interviewing every single person on why they have or haven’t attended, you don’t know.
My point is, you have to be pretty dedicated to go in the first place. If there is a single fan that doesn’t attend simply because a loanee has been recalled I’d be absolutely amazed.
Basically this. Hope they can see beyond the headline of ‘another great loan thinned out back to parent club and here we go again… I’m not bothered going now!’
Sometimes less words are more eh.
Hope that Stoke ( or whoever) haven’t got a game etc on the day we hopefully clinch promotion/win the title & that he can be there to join in the celebrations!
I said same thing, be a nice way to say thanks and good luck in person
I still feel bereft
I’m still lumping on
There is nothing casual about being a Saddler
