Don’t know if it’s possible but brum in final would be good.
Unless Robins recalls him before Tuesday, we progress further and surely Lowe will be even more wanting to stay for that chance of making it to Wembley (on top of a League 2 championship medal)?
They’re in the same half of the draw as us so no we couldn’t both get to Wembley - area final (still 2 legged?) is the latest we could see them again.
I may well see you there then.
Pity, would of been interesting!! Anyone know if semi’s are still 2 legs? Obviously got to get there first but a 2 leg semi v bluenoses would be tasty and add even more spice to an already wonderfully spicy season
Isn’t this the last round where things are regionalised?
My mistake, just looked it up and they’ve changed the rules since we last got this far - but the next round (quarters) is still regionalised and it’s the semis that aren’t. So if we both get through on Tuesday (Blues are away at Swindon) and we we get one of the other 2 southern section teams next, we could possibly meet them at Wembley.
And yes, the semis are 2 legs (the only round that is). They are now proper semis and not regional finals like the 3 previous times we got that far.
Villa U21s are still in the competition, aren’t they?
brum home and away would raise a few bob.
First game I’ll be missing this season, will have to be an armchair fan for the night
Hang your head in shame …
Probably getting some heat from his owner, he’s always on Talksport every summer saying he expects to win league one if they’re in it so they’ve fallen way off their usual level.
Think they won this competition a couple of years back.
Not good enough
Yeah got Bradford at Villa park
The team for this? Starters should be Hornby, Browne (if he is 100% fit), Weir, Daniels, McEntee. Johnson, Adomah, Comley. It’s a pity the new guy is ineligible as he could have given Liam a rest. If Josh Gordon is close, he might be on the bench.
I know we are good but we might need more than 8 players for this one
I hope Weir gets a game as every time I’ve seen him play he looks a real talent.
good get to wembley here play our strongest 11.
Asiimwe ineligible, so do we recall Rico Browne to rest Barrett like we did against Reading in the last round? Earing and Hall also started, Cleary and Lowe (who didn’t score or assist) were on the bench alongside the recalled Dylan Thomas - so that’s at least 4 if not 5 or even 6 changes required. Jellis, Williams, Matt and Stirk were given the night off, and we now have Comley back and possibly even Josh Gordon, so we should be able to name a full squad of 18 (still need some more cover in asap though as any more knocks/suspensions and we’re now paper thin).
Hornby to take over from Simkin again
Back 3 of McEntee, Daniels and Weir/Allen
Wing backs Browne/Barrett/Adomah and Allen/Weir/Gordon/Lakin (or is RAM fit enough?)
Midfield Comley and/or Stirk and Jellis, plus Lakin if only 1 DCM.
DJ has to start up front, but partnered by Matt, Adomah or Gordon???
Everyone else on the bench.
We created a shedload of chances that we didn’t convert that night - even with Lowe on the pitch. More one of those nights rather than us being woeful (conceding a goal to 9 men who hardly troubled us otherwise??? ) and I’m sure that we won’t be so profligate again if we keep on creating, while our defence should remain pretty solid.
Life without Lowey starts here. A decent showing (win or lose - these are another L1 team rather than our direct bedfellows remember) puts down a marker that we can continue to smash it without him.
