I’d personally be gutted if we only got 250k for him. 500k given his goals, assists, clean sheets, leadership ability, profesionalism, fitness levels. Can score from a free kick and sometimes a corner. I don’t think half a mil these days is unrealistic.

Nope, far from. Plenty of good players go though bad spells, the hyperbole is still nonsense.
Liam Gordon is way, way down the list of problems that have caused this terrible run of results. Other than needing a rest, and we have had the players to give him that. I’m also never a fan of a player being guaranteed his place, which Gordon appears to be.
As with many of the situations this season, on the manager not the player.
