Port Vale (H) April 5th, 12.30pm kick off

It was at least partly his fault for the goal. Another one of those situations where he should come out with the ball but doesn’t. It’s been happening a lot lately.

I don’t hate him at all, he was brilliant earlier in the season but I don’t think he has been great lately. Not the only one who’s form has dropped off of course.

I do agree, he is still probably our best option in that role though.

Stirk offers a lot more than Comley, i would keep the same team as Tuesday, but the bench will be interesting with Hall and Wheatley available again

We’ve barely seen Chang, who apparently can play that role. As with Barrett/Asiimwe, had Sadler rotated earlier post January we might well have discovered a quality option, whilst at the same time help keep Stirk more physically and mentally fresh for the run-in. Watching him on Tuesday he just seemed to keep switching off and end up half a second behind the situation he was involved in. Jellis has been the same in certain games. It looks like they’re snatching at things through nerves or poor decisions, but to me its fatigue. None of these players are lazy, they all give everything, but they’ve needed better looking after in my opinion.

Stirk should always be selected before Comley and has been consistently effective this season. He does however look jaded and in need of a rest but not sure who comes in given my personal concerns about Comley. Maybe Jellis, Allen and Lakin/Hall/Chang but that is probably to energetic, attacking and brave for MS. I don’t think Stirk will be rested against “The Vile” maybe, Barrow is his breather game. Up Top depends on fitness… I would go Jamma and Amantchi again, if he has recovered from knock on Tuesday. If not Harrison (again if fit) will get the not ahead of DJ from Sadler but DJ must be in the squad and given 20+ to make an impact. I would leave Assimwe as a starter as he has not put a foot wrong in his cover for Barrett, but I suspect MS to restore Connor as one of his “favourites”… DD on the bench ahead of Williams who looks certain to be off in June

We have seen so little of Chang, I keep forgetting about him.

I agree with your post. Look at the impact Asiimwe has had, yet it took Barrett to be suspended for him to get a proper chance.

Exactly, and you can 100% guarantee if he had avoided that suspension he would have played on, and Asiimwe probably wouldn’t have even made the bench…crazy.

Expecting a tight game, draw. I think both managers would probably take a draw now, and so I think that’s how it’ll play out.

Wheatley has been available for weeks apart from the last 2 when he’s been ill, can’t see Sadler picking him now.Hall will probably get on at some stage though.

I hear Vale are lining up Tom Pope to play as a one off, to ensure victory.

He was unwell when he returned from international duty, hence why he has missed the last 2 games

Win tomorrow and i think two more wins before Crewe will be enough.

Draw/Lose and we’ll need three wins from the next four.

Locker is home fans only for tomorrow’s match now, wonder how we’ve sold in the home end got to be nearing 6.5k or so surely

1-1.

Flynns Cheltenham to do us a favour against Doncaster.

Bradford v Crewe a draw.

Harrogate to score 7 late goals against Wimbledon to come from behind.

Id take that.

Referee appointment for tomorrow is a bit strange. He’s taken charge of a number of Premier League games, including Liverpool a couple of weeks ago, and games in the National League South too.

That doesn’t fill me with confidence from someone who has said all the long we would piss it!

Lose tomorrow and I think you are right we would need at least 3 wins, and I think we are up against it.

Win tomorrow and we are 5 ahead of Vale with 5 to play, I’d fancy us from that position.

Draw, and two wins and a draw could do.

It’s a biggy tomorrow, no doubt about it.

With the position we were in, was quite hard not to think we wouldn’t run away with it.

Still think we’re in a fantastic position, but i say about the wins before Crewe because it would be too much to take if we had to go to Crewe and get a result, want it all done before then :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Maybe I am confusing you with someone else, I meant within the past few weeks.

Looking at the run in for some of the other teams, the points total may not need to be that big. I do feel we are up against it if we lose tomorrow though.

Stirk is poor, Comley is bad.
Hall is better than both

If Harrison and Hall are available then they have to be picked in the squad which means two drop-outs. Comley has to be one of those surely?

Could lakin play the stirk role with stirk greatly underperforming ? He works as hard as anyone
