I don’t remember it either. But I’ve only been to Crewe three times. 79/80, 01/02 and 19/20. The first was too early. The other two, I’d just assume was an imitation ,and if I heard it at all, it wouldn’t stick in the memory. At Bescot, like you, I can’t remember hearing them sing anything.
Love a flare don’t they?
What’s everyone’s thoughts on pyro/flares btw?
They make for a good spectacle from a distance but aren’t great when one goes off by you.
I’d say anything that leads to the game being held up, probably leads to increased stewarding/ policing costs, and anything that leads to normal fans having to queue up and be searched will get a negative to me.
Personally if done well it looks spectacular, you see matches at some European grounds where the whole end is lit up.
Quite simply, they are illegal.
They can be dangerous too. I hope that the Crewe episode doesn’t encourage any of ours to give it a go.
I mean, I can see why but they would be in this country wouldn’t they!? Look at Germany/Poland etc.
I think my problem with it is that I have a friend who is a Notts season ticket holder, and I’ve had to endure it at close quarters when I’ve sat in their end with him and his mates. They were pretty quiet when we beat them 5-1 though
Just a pain in the arse, took us 10 mins to put one out the other week
I think anyone who takes incendiaries into a football ground is a brainless git who needs locking up for their own and everyone else’s protection.
Well you did ask.
I can’t say I particularly like them, but I wouldn’t object to them if they were part of a safe, approved, organised event.
Totally different scenario to some berk thinking it would be a good idea to hurl one in the general direction of the pitch.
Sounds like there’s some trauma there so on that, I won’t ask
There are numerous cases of idiots throwing flares onto 3G pitches causing them to burn.
Raith Rovers appeal after flare thrown on to pitch during Scottish Cup tie
No problem with them, adds to the atmosphere at times if done right
I remember someone let one off at full time in the Mansfield bogs few season back, that weren’t the best idea
No trauma at all.
If I’ve paid to see a football match, I want to see the match - not have it delayed for some kind of bonehead circle-jerk - or worse…
YAY, setting fire to stuff at football grounds!
I remember someone one letting one off in the bogs at Mansfield in the mid seventies. Not a flare, but an horrific fart. We were taking shelter from the pissing rain at half time. Most of us decided that getting soaked was preferable and legged it
They always smell worse when it’s dropped in a warmer temperature, especially around the mid seventies.
Think the Bradford fire was caused by a cigarette in a time where the terraces were mainly made of wood. Not sure their fan base would appreciate you rewriting that bit of history to exaggerate your point. Maybe have another go at having a google at fires started by pyro in modern stadia. Or just save your time as you might be there a while.
Glad to see our American owners are bringing in new fans from across the pond though!
I thought that was the name of a heavy metal group.
If not it should be😁
