Might not be for long, I’m afraid, once I have done the week 40 table!
Well get on with it
Patience, dear boy, I’m on it as we speak!!
Here is the latest table update after the weekend and last night’s game between Chesterfield and Gillingham, which was the last outstanding p-p game and clears up the pesky asterisks!!
Generally good scoring, but the winning score was an excellent 5 points, achieved by BoldmereSaddler and Pingu (first weekly win!) - well done to both of you!
Only 5 game weeks left and lots to play for. It is tight and ‘tough at the top’ as the E-Z Rollers once said, so keep going to the end!
*Happy now Belphy!!
Happy with yow, but not with me
In a saddleresq slump having at one point reached mid page one glory. I am now hanging on to the bottom of the page by my fingernails. I just can’t cope with the thought of relegation to page 2.
Updated table after the games over the weekend and towards the end of last week.
Pretty poor scoring overall as many of the fancied teams didn’t get the results as predicted by a lot of people, although, in true Walsall fashion, no-one really took advantage, and the winning score was just 3 points, achieved by cookyskid, BoldmereSaddler, deldras, matt_saddlesore, Belphegor and Exile - well done to all of you!
It is now pretty tight at the top with only 3 points separating the top 3 and a nicely bunched chasing pack behind them, should they slip up. All looks far too familiar, eh?!
The Easter weekend games are up and running for Thursday evening and Friday, and I’ll do the Easter Monday games as well when I get a chance over the next couple of days.
Congrats to @Belphegor on his weekly win tally. Top work!
Updated table after today’s games and the Bradford v Notts County game last night.
Pretty poor scoring, again, probably due to some unexpected results (how weird is the end of the season?!) and most people scored just 1 point, if anything. The winning score was therefore 2 points, achieved by JoaquinErnesto, ProfessorPeach and Shrewsbury_Saddler - well done to the 3 of you.
With the low scoring, there isn’t much movement in the table. Next Monday’s games are already up and running, so get your predictions in before the kick off times.
Updated table after the Easter Monday games. And, as has been the way, the unexpected and bizarre set of results has been reflected in the scoring! Lots of blobs and 1s and only 3 people scored more than a single point! The winning score was 4 points, achieved by reedswoodsadler - well done!
All to play for in the last 2 game weeks as it is tight at the top and a decent scoring week could just see someone pinch top spot!
Updated table after yesterday’s games. Reasonable scoring but the winning score was 4 points by Featherstonered - well done!
One more week to go to see who will be crowned champion, and there are a few in the mix, so get those predictions in before the kick off times.
Slipping down the table yet again. I am managed by Mat Saddler and I am where I wanted to be
Trying to hang on to a playoff spot, looks like I failed to turn up for a big game. Ring any bells?
I hope @Belphegor gets his power back in time to predict!
Not too much drama in our bit. Lost power / data signals twice for a couple of hours each time.
Back on by 4 and not off long enough for the beer to go cold
As usual though, it brought out the worst in some people. Queues at fuel stations and empty shelves in the supermarkets,
Was there any shortage of beer in the bar
Not by us
Water, yes
Surprised you noticed.
I did. I wanted two drops to put in a Bowmore single malt I had last night
Here is the FINAL TABLE for this season’s prediction league, after 45 grueling weeks of competition, highs and lows, tears of joy, and pain, as well as the usual moaning about not scoring, threatening to quit because of a 97th minute equaliser at Accrington ruining their score, making reverse predictions in the faint hope that it would somehow influence the real football happening on a Saturday afternoon, and so much more…
This weekend, the scoring was a little disappointing as, once again, teams expected to win didn’t and it could have been even worse if those jammy bantams hadn’t got the 97th minute winner () but then, I think we’d all have taken it!
The winning score was 3 points, achieved by JoaquinErnesto and ProfessorPeach - well done to both!
It proved a close-run thing in the end behind our long-term leader and a decent run from someone in the closing weeks may have proved dividends but, retaining the title after last year’s victory, and a very worthy winner of the 2024-25 Prediction League is…Shrewsbury_Saddler!!!
A massive well done!
There were 3 people tied for the most weekly wins, with 6, so a big well done to Exile, Belphegor and Shrewsbury_Saddler on that front.
Some interesting points to note:
- Everyone had at least 1 weekly win, which just shows how open the competition is and it can be a bit of a lottery! There is always the hope of next week…!
- In true Walsall FC fashion, there were some fantastic pointless runs with both JoaquinErnesto and CatKearns having 5 blobs in a row, but they kept going as they knew it “wasn’t who they were” and “it was just where they wanted to be”.
Normally now, we could forget about football for 2-3 months and enjoy other things but, as we all know, our joy and pain has been extended for a couple of weeks at least. I hope we all survive it and end up on Wembley way at the end of May!
But until next season, well played everyone, have a good predicting rest, and enjoy your trips to Twycross Zoo, Drayton Manor, and the the Black Country Museum with the kids…
