Losing our best midfielder to Chesterfield.. not ideal

True, I mean who’s going to break-up the opposition’s attacks, win the ball in midfield, initiate creative attacks, assist goals and score regularly himself? …oh, hang on.

Nobody at our level or several levels above

He’s a very very solid player for our level, he lost form but for me that was on the manager.

Kevin De Bruyne Can do all that ,but probably wouldn’t have been good enough for you .so gone elsewhere .

Would many on here rather have Chang than Stirk if it was straight either or option?

Chang for me

Tough one as Chang Won’t stay fit, which over a season becomes a real issue to a team like us.

I think he could be better than Stirk but he disappointed at Wembley. He was poor that day .Maybe the occasion got to him.

If you could guarantee Chang staying fit, then Chang every day of the week.

Has anybody thought Adomah could play in central midfield a free role, as a playmaker?

I think he will do the job.

He wasn’t on his own?

Not going over it all again but on balance, did any Walsall player come out of that game with any credit?

You beat me to it mate, not one of our players came out of that game with any praise.

Wouldn’t be that concerned if they could be trusted to replace him properly but will they?

Stirk liked keeping possession too much - he would often make the ridiculous decision to pass to one of our own players .

I think Sadler has shrewdly spotted that and decided it’s time for him to go . To be replaced with someone who will aimlessly boot it into a channel . In this channel we promptly lose possession , keeping our % possession stats at the required low .

Reckon next year we are going for 15% possession . 5% of those are when the keeper has the ball .

Sorry but offering Matt a new deal and letting Stirk go - what’s Sadler thinking ?

From the list when it was released:
"Discussions are ongoing with the following players regarding new contracts:

· Ryan Stirk"

Doesn’t scream of ‘letting him go’ does it. If Stirk wants to move on then it is his decision, he holds all the cards if his contract has lapsed. All the club can and have done is offer him a contract they feel is what he is worth and he decides.
How Sadler can be bashed over this I don’t know?

If Sadler really wanted to keep him I’m sure he could have .

Has his head really been turned by … Chesterfield ?? Yes , they play more football than us but it’s not like a League 1 club has come in for him . We also just beat them 3 out of 4 matches .

He knows the other players , etc , seemed happy here .

Something off IMO .

Depends how quickly he gets operated on. Perhaps it’s better treatment at the top level but most prem players get back from ACLs in eight months with good rehab. Rodri this season was injured in late September 2024 and made his return on May 20th.

So by that timeline it’s possible that Harry could return by Feb/March and play some part in the run in.

That would be great, but depends on Sadler actually selecting him!
