That is bizarre. McEntee moved days after the play off final so he had something lined up and agreed months back aswell clearly.

If Harry had signed a pre contract then fair enough but that has not happened so another awful decision from Sadler once we got into February and he thought the side were home and dry so he could “experiment.”

One game out of 46 is the evidence!

Harry Williams starts the Vale game and team dosen’t lose that imo. Were all at sea with long balls into the box that day. Not getting Simkin back into the team quicker after he had a breather for a few weeks was also a mistak IMO.

These decisions can be debated but what can’t be is this wasn’t a blip, it was a THIRTEEN match winless run. After the sixth game without a win he should’ve swallowed his pride.

Signing for Bohemian F.C according to the drogs page

Won’t get much compensation for him as he has also been at Stoke since he was 17/18, who signed him from Salford I believe. Suppose something is better than nothing though.

My post wasn’t in support of MS. It was simply pointing out we don’t know the details of what happened. MS made some mistakes in the second half of the season in my view but I don’t know whether Williams out was one of them.

You completely ignored the point I made in my post regarding HW .and the assumption you made about him it’s quite simple really .I’m not going to repeat the same thing again .it’s getting boring have a nice evening.

There was talk that he had tendinitis in his knee which was why he was out initially- I think that’s probably correct. Once he had lost his place, perhaps Matt wanted to have a settled defence.

Are we going to regret not re-signing him, or had he just not done enough to warrant a new contract? Personally, I would have tried to re-sign him.

Even though they were performing poorly.

Same with Hornby, I wasn’t Simkin’s biggest fan, but he is miles ahead of Hornby.

All these little mistakes mounted up to doing what seemed almost impossible.

In fairness to Allen, he signed a 2 year extension last August extending it to Aug 2026, after having a good second half to last season. So didn’t really bugger off at the first chance he could.

Is this just fantasy?

Shouldn’t DJTs contract have been 1 year with a 1 year option in favour of the club.

We appear to have paid (all or part) of his wages for the last 12 months and got nothing for it.

No, it’s the real life with no escape from reality. He was just a poor boy and got no sympathy from our lot, so it’s pretty easy come easy go in his eyes…

It was exactly that. Last year was the year in our favour (if you can call it that) We triggered the extension and sent him to Drogheda. All a bit iffy in my opinion. Feels like we triggered it for Drogheda’s benefit, not Walsall.

Anyway the wind blows…

I agree. I’d say it was so that Trivela could have something to point at if Drogheda fans questioned the benefits of the link with us. We got Evan Weir, they got DJT. No idea who paid, but I don’t feel Walsall FC got anything out of it.

Wasn’t it reported to be Richard Okelly who thought it might be worth giving him longer to improve as I remember from someone who was supposedly in the know??

I don’t remember that but have seen it said a few times recently, so it could be true.

However, just take a look what has happened. We sent him to Drogheda, to return when his contract run out, so there was no guarantee he would sign a new deal with us, which as it turns out he hasn’t.

What was the criteria for him improving enough? Has anyone being going to watch him regularly?

I’m just saying how it looks to me, that the extension was triggered for Drogheda’s benefit, not Walsall. I could be completely wrong, of course. It’s just how it looks and feels, to me.
